You don't know Cotto's financial situation. He's old, shot, and making the most money he can make before retiring. This is the same man who contemplated retiring after Mayweather almost knocked him out.

How many times do I have to hear stories of boxers like Trinidad, Holyfield, Tyson, and Whitaker go broke because they didn't manage their money correctly?

You fault Cotto for trying to make the best fights even though he's shot, yet commend GGG for knocking out tomato cans, waiting for handouts over midgets?

    I see what's going on.

Or course there wouldn't be any money in the fight compared to the money he'll be raking in from being the A side vs Geale and the millions he'll make having a super fight with Canelo.

Geale is a tuneup fight after not fighting in over a year, and a way to promote the Cotto-Canelo fight.. A fight which has been in the horizon before Cotto moved up and made Martinez his *****.

How will he make anything but his guaranteed purse Vs Geale? It's not PPV and Madison Square Garden has a record live gate of $4 million. Where is the extra money coming from fighting Geale above the guaranteed 17 million?

Because if Cotto fights GGG now, GGG knocks him out and Cotto loses his chance on a big payday, giving up the A side and the belt.

How hard is this to understand?

Good advise to Cotto drop the dam belt and relieve the pressure.

Miguel doesn't need to do anything. He's in the twilight of his career, and in the driver's seat after scoring the upset win against an unhealthy Sergio.

It would be pretty stupid of Cotto to carelessly give that positioning up, especially when far bigger money fights loom on the horizon.

He should, however, get out of the Geale fight. Too risky.
