i dont why people are using the word running... hes using his boxing skills to win rounds even when hes going backwards... still being effective and landing shots... if thats what you guys are calling running... then maybe you guys are just dissing great hall of famers like sugar ray leonard, whitaker, camacho, and even mayweather... come on you guys have to start learning all aspects of boxing in my opinion...

9-9 round one?:huh when was the last time that happen, so round 6 was 10-8 then please.

You must have forgotten that cotto was cut for most of the fight and that he couldn't use his left hand for offensive purposes as he wanted.

You can't judge any fighter boxing skills when abnormal circumstances happen(cut, injury etcc) what you can judge is its heart and determination to win period. Berto can hang with cotto if cotto gets cut in both eyes.

most of you haters thought cotto would fold and lose because clottey was that good, now cotto wins a decision and you you don't give him credit for winning under adversity. the problem with most of the pussies on ESB is that they will continue to hate nomatter how Cotto fight...win small or big..so go **** your selves...BTW..the only guys hatin on miguel are the same ole guys who were doing it before last night's fight...especially that ****** who started this thread.

Maybe, but Cotto is a strange fighter in ways. He likes to stalk, move stealthily in and out, and work it his pace. When he fights someone who can stand up to his combinations, fire back, and come forward, Cotto revs up the engine on that bike and hits the road!

He then looks very vulnerable. I noticed that in the Mosley fight, before Margarito, so I'm not sure how much the pyschological nature of the defeat to Margarito is to blame for his performance last night.

its notwhat Margarito did, this is how Cotto fights. he gets hit alot, gets cut alot, gets hit with 90% of all uppercuts. Cotto is a good fighter, I dont know if he'll ever be great but he showed me alot of heart last night

I sure hope the future of Puerto Rico is never in your hands....You're like 25% boricua and that's only cuz you speak spanish. Where's your pride man? Sure the man has his flaws - all fighters do - but the only times he's looked bad is against people who pressure him although last night he was fighting at a disadvantage with the cut. Do I think Mayweather beats Cotto? Yes, but it won't be a walk in the park like most of you predict - Mayweather aint gonna pressure Cotto and if you don't pressure MC, you're in for a long night...

Cotto is showing signs that he believes he can be beaten and that's not how a confident fighter performs... All since that Margo fight yeah.

Cotto is very good, he showed more skills than Clottey. Cotto moves his head and ducks but all Clottey did was block punches with his gloves. Cotto is skilled enough to fight in the center and back up his opponents but he has a tendency to start moving away and lower his hands when he gets tired or cut.

He needs a good trainer to work on those things and stamina should be his top priority so that he would be able to pressure opponents and throw punches for as many rounds as needed without needing to move away excessively and give his opponents opportunities.

If Cotto didn't have a terrible cut and was struggling against somebody a lesser fighter than Clottey, you'd have a point.

all though am a big cotto fan. i see your point. but with a high quality trainer he can get back and more to get his swagger back. but the cut did hamper him. so its kind of hard to evaluate him from the Margo fight.
to the clottey fight. but i did see signs that cotto will be beat if he dos not get a relly good trainer to work on his skills and stamina . he is still young. but cotto is the one that hase to notice he needs to make a change.

It's cool man, realistic fan here as well...It just seems as you're completely ignoring the cut Cotto sustained so early in the fight not by a punch but by a headbutt...You don't somehow think the cut altered the fight as it progressed?

I think people are looking into cotto's performance more and trying to downgrade clottey's ability. It's not like cotto is fighting some bum from the street. Clottey is a title holder and is a very good fighter. He match up well with cotto and he could have won if he was more aggressive in the 12th round.

Cotto's a real solid fighter, but far from great. I think we knew this BEFORE the Clottey fight. I'm still a fan though.
