This would be an awesome fight between two my favorite current fighters to watch. Kirkland has that Joe Frazier like mentality where hes willing to absorb tremendous punishment and walk through fighters best punches to land his own punches, guys with this mentality can be very hard to beat on any night. Cotto is a warrior in his own right and I believe is the much more skilled fighter which makes me lean towards him in this bout. I think Cotto would stick to a good game plan like he did against Margaritto especially in the second fight where he moved and landed combinations effectively. If Cotto can stick to a game plan like that I believe he beats Kirkland likely by decision but if he gets caught up in a brawl with Kirkland he may be in big trouble. Kirkland turns boxing matches against quality pros into street fights and if he can do this with Cotto I believe he'll have the advantage though Cotto may possibly still be able to win. I hope this fight happens sometime in the near future.
i like kirkland alot very fan friendly fighter but i cant pick agaisnt cotto in there. cotto can outbox him and knock him out in the process. james might be able to beat him like margs like fashion but margs coulda had plaster in them gloves and cotto was outboxing him for sure all night but margs got to him and we all prolly know why ,.. but if margs did that with out plaster maybe james can as well. but james chin isnt like margs.. but james chin under ann wolfes never been all that bad. the one time he got ko'd by ishida he wasnt with ann and ann would have prepared him waaay different the way james is built to be trained
