I think the problem many guys face when they fight Mayweather is that they come in with a specific gameplan that they believe can neutralize him. But what if that doesn't work? If you put so much work into winning a fight based off a specific gameplan, and the gameplan doesn't work, the fighter is in real trouble. Diaz is very experienced in the sport, so maye he's onto something. Personally though, I think the best way to approach a fight with Floyd, is to prepare the fighter to be in the best shape possible, and do what they do best.
Cotto is fighting, not his trainer............and he will not last the distance.....it will be a one sided beatdown until the KO/TKO. At least Cotto gets a nice payday but FMJ would/will beat Cotto at ANY weight at ANY time in their respectice career.
Cotto needs a perfect gameplan because he's dealing with a reach /height disadvantage, which is killer against Floyd, and he doesnt have the advantage of being a southpaw either. He's gotta fight smart but he's gotta be wiling to take chances too. It'll be important to see how well Cotto can take Floyd's punches and if he can outmuscle him a bit.
