Cotto is just being quiet and enjoying his victory. He doesn't need to jump all over him with speculations after pummeling the **** out of him hours prior. We have eyes and we saw how Cotto was bleeding heavily with a broken nose early in the first fight, since when did Margarito do that to a legitimate threat without plaster?. Margarito was never known to be a power puncher anyway unless you consider Andrew "Six Heads Zero Chins" Lewis an all-time great like almost all of Concreto's fans do.
Not only are you Seriously underrating Cotto but you are overrating one of the most limited fighters @ 154. Angulo is not as determined and conditioned as margarito and quite possibly slower. Everybody else you mentioned at 154 advantages Cotto only in size not Boxing skills.
I am telling what Cotto SAID and HOW he said it. If you wanna pretend that we are all crazy, including Manny Steward, who acknowledged that Margo's punches had no power last night, then go ahead... The one thing that is clear: Denial is stronger than plaster. As for Cotto looking "relieved" he was actually sad that they stopped him from breaking Margarito's face to **** in the next 9 minutes... The ref saved Margarito's life.
A broken nose doesn't mean that his wraps were loaded. All it takes is for a punch to land in an awkward way and greater damage is sustained. Nobody said Pac's wraps were loaded because of the way Margo's eye blew up. How is it that Pac could do that to Margo but struggled with Marquez and could barely mark him? Frazier's head never swelled up like it did in Manila. Loaded wraps.
I'm not underrating Cotto at all, but he is clearly declining, and quite frankly I never rated him highly due to the way he won at 147 with the low blows against Judah, and the loss I felt Shane and Clottey gave him. Cotto can't handle pressure fighters (Angulo, Kirkland, Canelo), clear as day in my view, but he is too physically limited at 154 to deal with the boxers there, IMHO like Molina, Lara, and Trout. I have a problem seeing him compete against any of those guys, hell I have a problem seeing him compete against Paul Williams, a guy he has ducked since 147.
I still think Margo only used that plaster against Mosley. Cotto was beginning to swell up after eating those uppercuts from margo on those late rounds. but because of cotto's improved laterals, he avoided margo's pressure and eventually made the fight well in favor of cotto.
