Well then Donny Lalonde should have never lost his 175 lb title to Leonard after losing to him at a 168 lb catchweight fight.

The fact that there has been a precedence, and there's many others, made Cotto staking his title in a catchweight fight a credible affair.

Excuses.He lost Cotto aint what he is cracked up to be. He ran against,

Concreto, Clottey and Mosley that tells you everything about Cotto level

as a fighter.Simple as that. This win isn't even that great for Pacquiao a

I have....use to wrestle. But regarding Miguel.....he went from one camp with Josh, right into the camp for PAC. He had little weight to cut given that he only had faught Josh 3 months or 4 months earlier and Miguel began camp for PAC a few weeks earlier than normal.

Please don't say Miguel lost b/c of being weight drained....it's just not a good look homie.

 

So i guess his fight with Josh wouldn't have been a legit WW fight b/c afterall Cotto came in at 146!

 

I agree but WBO did not compel Cotto to defend his title at 145. WBO merely sanctioned the fight as it was still within the WW limit, it was the boxers themselves who agreed to fight at catchweight.

 

This is ******ed. Anything inside 140-147 is welterweight. Period. Boxing, boxers, promoters, sanctioning bodies decide the rules, not people on message boards.

 

Welterweight can be fought at any weight between 141 lbs and 147 lbs, you should check the rules

 

Cotto should not have put the belt on the line because it was officially a catchweight fight. However, he did agree and got ripped apart by a much smaller man. He really shouldn't have had the belt anyway as it belonged to Paul Williams in the first place. So he got a belt he never deserved and he lost it in a dubious way. I'll say it's fair.
