Santos is a sturdy fighter and Foreman hurt him a couple of times and even put him on the canvas. Cotto is coming up in weight, lacks defense, has taken a lot of punishment in his last few fights, and has a shaky chin. A stoppage is not out of the question.
close fight for me ...cotto is at least 20 years younger despite giving away around 200lbs so it evens it up a little. george aint been the same since he took a beating in Africa and then started selling them grills on tv. he aint hungry anymore
Bigreg I made the same exact predictions as you did with the Cotto fights against Pacquiao/Clottey and now Foreman. Look at the poll I'm taking Foreman. But its hard to see someone throw salt on a fighter whos career is hanging by a thread. Cotto is already on the Jermain Taylor track and its very heartbreaking to see ANY fighter take that path. I can't appreciate it when people speak the obvious. Theres not much to debate on this thread, either people have a little faith in what Cotto has left or they don't, and more importantly this fight is at 154lbs an unknown weight and therefore worthless to analyze. Logically, everyone should just come on this thread and say Cotto is gonna get his ass beat win/lose or draw hes going to take some really hard shots again unfortunately.
Thank u POUND i completely agree with u. it just BigReg just wants 2 b beat as much as possible y i do not know.
I'll be rooting for Cotto and feel he would impress us and probably show us the Cotto we love to see. And just a reminder Cotto could have beaten many of the title holders. It's funny how some try to discredit Cotto for winning vacant titles, when basically guys from Sugar Ray Robinson to Hopkins have done it themselves. The true fighter is not the one that wins a vacant title or not, but the one that defends it over and over with quality opponents. And Cotto did that and more. Also another reminder Cotto can't control everything, wasn't Clottey the IBF champ but something happen there and wasn't also Mosley the interim WBC champ, but something also happen there? A lot of these things you can't control.
Many people here feel Pac is the greatest fighter of our generation but losing to him is an indication that your a shot fighter? Clottey is a tough rugged former champ with only a few losses on record but being in a close fight with him means your best days are behind you? Margo was widely regarded as one of the most avoided and feared fighters in the sport but losing to him when he was the bigger stronger man means your finished? Yea cotto has been in wars and loss some fights so has Pac but no one here was saying it was over for him when he had close fights with Marquez or losing to Morales. Cotto is 29 years old with two losses. People here are talking about him like if he's Camacho Sr. I bet if he beats Foreman in convinicing fashion his name will reappear on P4P list and in matchups with Mosley (who until he beat Margo was considered washed up...of course now he's prime) clottey rematch and other big fights.
Santos was an over the hill out of shape boxer, and cotto a shaky chin? are you serious with this **** :hat
Cotto has been stopped twice and buzzed several times. I think it's fair to say that he has a shaky chin.
You say all this, yet Cotto is clearly winning this poll and will probably open up as the betting favorite against Foreman.
What fighter who came to fight has not been stopped by Pac? Diaz had a very tough chin, Pac stopped him. MAB doesnt have a shaky chin, he kissed the floor a few times. Morales had an iron chin and never before stopped, he got stopped. JMM kissed the canvas 4 times. Cotto walked into some serious shots and dropped. Margo had bricks which accumulated damage over the course of the fight.
