Once again you have no idea what you're talking about. He never "blew cold" until he was well past his prime, post Vasquez. Prior to that he'd have handled Cotto with relative ease.
He would lose to the ATGs like Leonard, Duran, etc., and probably to a prime version of Mosley. Against the lower quality fighters like Honeygan, Curry, Cuevas, etc. it gets tougher to call.

Yeah, Curry despite having some fantastic attributes was NOT of the same mould as ATG welters such as Leonard, Hearns, Robinson, Gavilan. Cotto loses to all of these, though if he can outmanouevere Simon Brown he can win a decision. Prime Mayorga (the version that beat Forrest twice) is a NIGHTMARE for Cotto IMO.
Brown was a better technical boxer-puncher than Cotto Flea imo, before he slowly abandoned his skills in favour of one-dimensional plodding.Also far stronger, more durable and generally harder than Cotto. I'd only make him favourite over Mayorga, but even then wouldnt' bet any money on it.
weather he was past his prime or not he was still a welterweight, it says whitaker at welter, yes whitaker was a great lightweight, but at welter he was not at his best struggled with that cuban , had to give wlfredo rivera a rematch after struggling bad first time, got a draw with a finshed fighting in the wrong weight class chavez! and got beat by oscar, also wasnt him and buddy at welter cos he was lucky to get the nod first time round in there 1st fight as well. Why bring up ******ed comments like this? If you were a proper boxing fan, you would know damn well that he beat Chavez, and that there's a good case for him beating De La Hoya - though he should of mounted more of an offence - even when past his prime.
I think he could conceivably outbox Mayorga over the 12 round duration, but I think there's a lot to be said for the thread in general. Miguel Cotto, although a wonderful win for Manny Pacquiao, was never a special fighter. There's a hell of a lot of Welterweights in history who knock him out, let alone just beat him.
Even in one-dimensional plodding mode Brown was as good as peak Margarito (better speed, slightly lesser chin), who beat Cotto. I think Cotto loses to the lot, unless we allow him to fight past prime versions.
