While I don't think Cotto is going to drop Mayweather, I do think Cotto is going to make it competitive for at least 7 rounds. My heart wants Cotto to win and then knock out Pac, but I'm a realist and I see Floyd winning a UD with a knock down along the way. If he steps it up like he did against Hatton in terms of combinations upstairs and downstairs before really putting the pressure on....Cotto will be out of there before 10. Cotto is my favorite fighter, but unlike certain fans, I don't bandwagon ****. I know boxing and Mayweather and Cotto each have a style that will result in a very interesting and exciting fight. Anyone who says otherwise DKSAB.*
And, though I'm pulling for Cotto in this fight, it's just as reasonable to suggest that the opposite result could occur should Mayweather land something similar. In truth, we all know that both of these fighters are capable of doing this. The appeal of this fight is watching theml try to make it happen.
the only way i see cotto (or anyone bigger physically) beating Floyd is to bully him from the 1st bell. throwing everything at him in the 1st round, fighting dirty almost like a street fight. this is a risky gamble as it will gas cotto out, but too many people have tried different tactics and come up short everytime. ive never seen anyone come out against Floyd (like tyson sometimes used to) and try take his head off in the 1st IMO thats cotto's only chance. Id love to see him try this
Im expecting Mayweather to win... the usual tentative start for the first 3 rounds, speed counters start to deter, mid rounds pbf start to come forward some, late rounds pbf in full domination as cotto's mentality breaks down yet again... Mayweather will seal his fate as #1 P4P, effectively 1-upping Pacquiao in beating Cotto w/o a catchweight, at a weightclass Cotto fights good at.
cotto is the one who will be stopped i say inside 8 rounds after terrible beating cottos corner will stop the fight in between rounds!
