Cotto was stunned a few times, and IMO was vunerable to a good puncher that he could not put away early.
I'll look for that other thread. And I haven't rewatched the fight yet, maybe I will tonight and see if I can find one where the footwork is there and everything. Either way I think Cotto's chin is underrated compared to what people think of it. If his chin was ****, he wouldn't of lasted 11 rounds whether he was getting his clean or not.
I think his chin is the worst part of his entire makeup as a boxer. He has above average to excellent skills in almost every category EXCEPT for his chin. I don't think it is just his chin though. If you notice he was being moved around by Margarito's shots to the body also. He never looked comfortable being hit by Margarito from the beginning of their fight. I don't think he takes punishment real well at all. That is why he started to panic to a certain degree early on and ended up running way more than he originally planned to. I think other fighters are going to see what Margarito did and actually make a mistake in trying to emulate what Tony did. Most fighters if they pressure Cotto trying to get to his one weakness will find themselves on their ass because his counter punching will find its mark and he has enough power to KO guys making this mistake.
They attacked us and abused us. They called us fake boxing fans..for some reason... But we were right. Zakman you were 100% on you analysis and I predicted that Margarito would win for the reasons he won. And even though they called Margarito a bum, and we came back and said the bum punked Cotto, we were unfairly attacked.
Good point, it's Cotto's overall constitition that can't take damage, as well as his chin. That was always apparent, but it was something that got overlooked by alot of people. I personally spent the fight just waiting for Cotto to fall. From the opening bell, it was only a matter of when Margarito would cut him down, not if. Cotto should have never been in the ring with him.
