Vanilla is correct in that Cotto has never defeated an established champion for their belt. Clottey's IBF was also won in a vacant title match as it originally belonged to Margarito who took it off Cintron but was forced to give it up to fight Cotto. Let's just say that if Cotto can defeat Clottey his resume will be right up there next to Margarito's for quality of competition at 147. The best thing Cotto can do is fight and defeat Paul Williams if he wants to become the top P4P fighter. PBF will never likely fight a true welterweight so long as he can pick on little guys like JMM and Pacquiao.

I agree, Cotto really needs to man up and fight Paul Williams and rematch Margarito to redeem himself. Basically Margo by losing to Mosley has really screwed up the welterweight rankings so now there's no clear undisputed champion at 147. Paul Williams needs to get back in the mix of things.

You put too much emphasis on belts/titles and the useless P4P myth that's all I'm gonna say...

If and I say a big "if" Cotto can manage a win tonight. The best thing he could do is get a rematch with Mosley. The first was a very close call in which I would have gave Sugar the nod. But I am not mad at Cotto getting a close decison.

While I would like to see any top welter fight Williams (Sugar, Cotto, Floyd, Berto, even Collazo or fuk it even Bring Cintron back down for a fight). He needs to get back in the mix at 47. He's gonna have to bait someone into that. Start showing up at the welter fights and calling em out in public places, show up at the pressers.

True but they just took it. After the fight was announced, right? But basically he has a champions mentality and heart. And he has a hell of a shot.
Cotto deserves credit for taking this.

I normally would agree but 2 factors prevent me. Mosley wasnt champ at the time, and he was backing cotto up in the last rounds. And cotto only won by a round. It was an amazing win against a legend dont get me wrong.

Cotto knew he won the fight...why risk getting hit with something unnecessary from a heavy hitter in Mosley? Cotto beat Mosley to the punch all night even though their hits on each other were quite even - also, Cotto's jab won him the fight. I had Cotto winning by two rounds actually. People say Cotto was gassed in the Mosley fight but after watching it again, he wasn't gassed (lil tired yea) he was just playing it safe.

**** talking on the internet forum. Usless, just stop it. It dosent mean ****. I could go on here talking all the **** but it wont do anything. SO how about instead of filling your post with **** talking, fill it with a good argument ok. Because people like you make hard working boricuas with education stereotyped into dumb hood rats. And stop getting all jumpy. Im a cotto fan, i like him. I just dont go down on him like you do, blinded by love. Its ok to criticize people, if you got decent facts backing it up. thats all i got to say to you

it is funny, i am glad someone else knows that cotto has only won vacant titles, arum did a great job i am not saying that cotto could not beat the former champions like paul williams who's belt he currently owns (by beating jennings) who i still til this day dont know how he was ranked 1 in anything...but i agree tonight will tell alot
