Could a prime "big" george foreman be effective today?

90's for me was when you could see a noticeable improvement in the heavies in general from the 70's..More atg's too MAYBE

 

Against Wilder I think he wins... But against Joshua and the Klitchkos he would not be as big as he was before, an size did help George.

 

I'd argue Foreman is just around their size. Wlad and Joshua are really 6'5" and not 6'6" and Parker is clearly closer to 6'3" than 6'4" and Foreman is just under 6'4".

Also, Parker's best fighting weight clearly isn't 235+, which he's been fighting at for several years now. At 235+ he's slow, has no snap on his punches, and tires quickly. Parker in top condition is between 220-225, but he's most likely lazy.

Notice that Parker doesn't have fat rolls around his stomach at 226 and he actually has handspeed and mobility.

Wlad was at his best around 240. Any heavier and it effected his stamina, timing and handspeed.

Joshua I'd argue is much more effective at 230 than he is at 240+. At 230 he has mobility, stamina, handspeed, and head movement. At 240+ he has no headmovement and both his mobility and stamina suffer.

Prime Foreman would destroy that glass jawed fraud Wilder, that's for sure. Hell, the old 90s version would starch that joke!

 

1.Foreman is 6'4"
2.He trained down to 215-220. When he was older and boxers didn't do that anymore he came into the ring weighing 260 lbs.
3.He was essentially built like Luis Ortiz.
4.He'd be the undefeated unified champ today.

 

90s were great. Evander just happened to have an injury or heart attack from PEDs or whatever it was in a title defense so Moorer became champ by narrowly beating an evander that was trying not to keel over and die for 12 rounds

I don't think so. His defense was far too porous and his punching was fairly crude. Sure he had power, but watch anyone of his old fights during the first half of his career, and nobody can tell me that his technique offensively and defensively was anything but crude.

Now if you took the old Foreman's brain, and put the improved punching technique and boxing mind into the young Foreman, hell yeah he would compete in today's division, he'd probably be the champ.

 

They were great. The OP is an idiot. If Moore had such a glass chin why is it he was only kod twice and it was by monster punchers (Foreman, Tua)?

 

Other than potentially Joshua I don't see him being challenged by anyone. Out of old school heavyweights I think big George would be one that could manage to actually still do well in the modern era unlike say Marciano or Louis.

 

Would probably knock out Joshua. Not guaranteed though.

Foreman had a telephone pole jab that most people overlook because of his bone crushing power in both hands from any angle…he was a very sneaky good boxer…

Prime Foreman would destroy most, if not all of the division in any era. If you don’t think so, you didn’t really see him in his prime…

 

Both versions of George Foreman would be lineal Hvywt champ today.
