Sean Sherk, Takanori Gomi, Jens Pulver, Pat Miletich, Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, Shinya Aoki, etc... could any of these guys have went up to welterweight and fought Jon Fitch to a draw? What do you think? :think
Maybe prime Sherk could do, also he was fighting at 170 some years ago. Bj Penn fought to a draw and he was a lightweight and isn`t much bigger than he was at lightweight.
Sherk had some good wins at welter, so I'd put him as the next most likely. A draw is hard to get though; I suspect Sherk would have lost a UD outright. I can't see him getting Fitch's back twice OR getting totally owned and beat down to a 10-8 by Fitch. Penn/Fitch was a weeeeeeird fight...
Didn't Hughes and/or GSP do just this to Sherk though? I can't remember which one it was, but I'm sure one of them did. If they did, surely Fitch is capable of doing so as well?
Hughes beat the **** out of Sherk for 2 rounds and still kept coming. I think Sean is too small for Fitch, but he'd definitely go the full 3 and put up a better effort in the 3rd than BJ did
I would think no. Well, maybe Edgar. If Edgar could stay off the cage for large spurts, he could use his footwork and quick hands to score. Penn just showed how exceptional he is in that fight. Penn was a legitimate bjj blackbelt in just 3 years. Penn is viewed by many to have the best boxing in the sport. For him to out wrestle the wrestler for 2 rounds is crazy.
No way Edgar can fight to a draw with Fitch, he is undersized even at lightweight. When all 7 Champs were at the Q&A Aldo and even Cruz were bigger than him
Edgar and Maynard, probably. Maynard probably moreso but Edgar could maybe do it. Not too often but could. Everyone else gets beat up. (Unless I'm forgetting some, which I maybe am)
