And would the UFC prefer it of he did? Another quality fighter in the division (which needs 'em, 155 is clogged up already) a superfight with Aldo, and allows them to move Nate Diaz without worry of either man refusing to face each other and holding up the top of the division again (potentially)

Anyone think it's a possibility/sensible option/viable career for move for Melendez? He'd be a beast at feather I imagine. Looks like he could shed a few and came in at 153 for tonights fight.

Or am I talking **** again?

    No, too big.
And there isn't a need for him to do that, since he's best LW going today.
    Yes you're talking **** again.

Agree with HGM, too big nowdays.

Was one of the best FW's around before his move up to LW, probably no.1 if 'Pequeno' Nogueira didn't try his best to avoid him.

I don't think he's the best lightweight going.

Id like to see if he could. Yes he is one of the best 155ers out there but while you got Benson-Edgar II and Nate Diaz and Pettis right there waiting for a shot why not have Melendez fight Aldo if he CAN ?

Frankie and Gil' moving down to fight Aldo, Zombie, Hioki, Koch, Poirier, instantly gives the division more oomph.

Lightweight would still have Bendo, Maynard, Guida, Pettis, Diaz, Cerrone, Barboza.

Eddie Alvarez isn't a humongous 155lber either. Could he make it?

Personally I'm hoping Pat Curran gets out of Bellator whilst he and Aldo are still winning. He'd be a quality addition the ranks as well IMO.

Doubt that would be the case if Melendez was fighting Aldo.

Melendez isn't the best 155lber in the World. Not close.

Not after that fight... Melendez is obviously a good figher, but man... Maybe much like Marquez has Pac's #, Thomson has Melendez #. Melendez better hope this is the case because if he moves up in competition he gets destroyed. His punches just looked so slow, he looked a bit weak IMO in this fight, and honestly if Thomson kept the pressure on I think Melendez was getting knocked out.

Bad night at the office and Flea is right, he's not number 1 after that performance. But he's still top 5 imo and would be a tough night for anyone in the UFC

I would think Nate Diaz would beat Melendez nevermind Frankie (who I'd give a real good shot) and Bendo. Hell, even Pettis could probably eek out a decision.

I think Nate Diaz is way too modest when it comes to his friend. Training is not fighting, and Nate would manhandle Gil' at 155 IMO.

Melendez definitely looks like he could make 145lbs again IMO.

    :bump

Bloodyelbow reports that if Nate wins this weekend, Gil' is going down. Melendez Vs Aldo/Edgar winner could be huge.
