Julian has a great punch... yesterday I was watching his knockouts... he put his rivals to sleep... but if Julian would go up to higher weights as a cruiser and complete, how effective would that punch be?

He could obviously hit as harder than some light Punching heavyweights at a lower level but not as hard as elite hard hitting heavies. If he bulked up he would probably have got more powerful but perhaps in a p4p sense less powerful relative to the bigger opponents in a heavier division.

Think most heavyweights aspired to hit as hard as Jackson

As big a puncher as Jackson was, he was knocking out 160 pound opponents.

No. Everything is relative and concussive force is very relative. Julian Jackson is the hardest puncher in history P4P but I think his power level is probably akin to a solid hitting LHW, not CW and definitely not HW.

I base that on his frame. He was the size (at JMW and MW) of many of the LHW's of yesteryear.

He absolutely does not. He doesn't even hit as hard as Usyk does. A guy who wasn't even a banger at Cruiser. Put Usyk in the ring with LightMiddleweights and see how that power plays at 154. Would be dropping guys cold.

Maybe. I think the difference in punching power between the weight classes isn't as great as we think.

That's ridiculous. The average Heavyweight punches much harder than a Middleweight.

Maybe if he bulked up 25 pounds without losing much hand speed.

He could probably hit hard enough to keep a heavy boned HW honest and maybe even hurt some of the smaller ones but the reality is that he would probably get knocked spark out by a jab from someone half decent

A heavyweight who doesn't have good punch mechanics? Possibly.

At the end of the day a good punch is based on weight transfer, at 160 lbs there is only so much power that can be generated even with perfect form compared to a man well over 200 lbs .

Anyone who's taken a punch (or kick) from a large man even just from holding pads understands why weight classes exist.

I'm a "heavyweight" and i'm sure he hits harder than me ; ) I don't think he's the type that putting on weight/muscle was gonna make him hit any harder though, he needed the speed to achieve his insane power. I doubt there's many world class heavyweights he hit harder than tbh, maybe a guy like Hughie Fury.
