Yes he could have. This is why I don't see why people is making a big deal for what Floyd did. His actions were, legal Ortiz wasn't, but yet commentators and haters discredit him for paying attention and doing his job. This the fight game people. All that friend, buddy buddy ****, goes out the window once you step into the ring. Floyd or any other vet of the sport knows this. (Joker) why so serious???....lol

Yes, and any other ref would have.
That's yet another reason I was saying in another thread that Cortez is too old to continue to referee.

That headbutt was so blatant even stevie wonder could see it.

Ortiz totally lost it, he was either to pumped up or to frustrated. Also he was missing a lot of those punches when he had floyd against the ropes it reminded me of the ricky hatton fight, and ortiz just lost it for a second and chose to launch a headbutt into Floyd, which busted floyd's lip.

I think so, and it wasn't even the first obviously intentional headbutt that he initiated. There was at least one more and maybe a third. I really don't see the controversy in the KO. The announcing crew should have been more concerned about that headbutt and Victor's completely irrational explanation of it.

if the ref feels the foul was blatent and or fight changing he can take 2 points or d q said fighter i feel he should have taken 2 points as that was such a blatent butt bradley and holyfiled are already planing on utilizing the new patented ortiz jumping head butt in there next bouts.

When you think about it, just a 1 point deduction for that headbutt is ludicrous.

    Another mistake by Cortez.
