Could Overeem do to Bigfoot what he did to Rogers?

Overeem basically manhandled Rogers, overpowering him with ease.

Apparently, Silva was 280+lbs on fightnight vs Fedor, and is a far better grappler than Rogers.

Would his size and grappling credentials make him a much tougher fight for Overeem, or do you foresee a similar type of domination if that fight happens?

Doubt it, it became quickly apparent that Rogers had no idea to do when in that position, if Bigfoot ends up there he'll fair little better.

I don't think Overeem beating Werdum is a foregone conclusion, though. 50/50 fight for me.

I really hope that Werdum can back up some of his "Shock the world one more time!" talk and give us a great battle. But I've got a feeling that Overeem is just going to smash him to pieces.

Dont get me wrong I dont want to overemphasise Silvas abilities his .victory over fedor should not have people declaring him a great fighter all of the sudden.

Yes I do think it is possible, but probably not likely for Overeem to have such an easy victory over a large and talented opponent as Silva.

If Overeem gets Silva down it will only be after landing punches knees and kicks that drop Antonio Silva. He will be dazed, it would not be a surprise to see Overeem pound Silva out from this position Bjj black belt or not.

As Ubersteve said above Overeem my not get past Werdum.

Manhandling him physically, maybe not because of his grappling skills but I think it is getting to the stage that every second a MMA stands with Reem, they are in serious dangers. If they enter the clinch with him then his size, Thai clinch, knees and guillotine put you in serious danger.

Must get him down me thinks.

Striking with Overeem is something I think any MMA fighter should avoid at all costs.

I'm sure Silva is a strong guy, but I don't think he is as strong as Lesnar or Carwin. Silva definitely isn't as explosive as Lesnar. I wouldn't be surprised to see Overeem being capable of bullying him around a little early in the fight. If Overeem can't bang Silva out of there, I think Silva comes on late to finish his opponent.

no I dont think he could.

He would have to take the fight to the ground.

Not IMO No , even though i wasnt impressed and never have been impressed with Silva's wrestling , he is not Brett Rogers , Rogers is a rookie who has a couple of un expected KO's and brings the heat , he is effective but his skill set is severely flawed , specially his wrestling , his body positions against Overeem where just seriously amatuer'ish , hence he was constantly off balance in the wrong positions when trying to be effective in the clinch or secure a TD , and he was tossed around like a grappling dummy !!!! , and we are talking about basic body positions , under hooks , transferring of weight , position if his feet etc etc .

Silva on the other hand can actually wrestle at least a bit , and he's huge , a true 265 not an inflated 265 like rogers , there is a big difference :deal , do i think Silva can repeatidly secure a TD against Overeem , NO i dont , but i do know he wont be tossed around like Rogers was !!!!

no i dont see Reem manhandling Silva like he manhandled Rogers. however that doesnt mean i dont see Reem manhandling Silva with stikes and blowing Silva out in the first round. The difference being that when Reem twisted/threw Rogers to the ground Rogers was a FISH out of water. He looked horrible. He looked so horrible that Reem seemed to take his time with Rogers on his back as Rogers had no clue while on his back. Silva excells on the ground.

heres how i see this fight shaping up,,,,Silva's chin etc dealing with Reem's speed and power striking. If Silva can walk through a few of Reems strikes without undue cobwebs/confusions then he has a REAL chance of beating Reem. If in the opening minutes and opening round if Reem is catching and damaging Silva with strikes (knees, kicks, fists etc) and effecting Silva's game plan then it looks great for a Reem win. If Silva takes a few shots but still looks unshakin then i think if it makes it past the first round its a 50/50 fight.

i still think Silva is under-rated overall on this forum etc.
