Certainly not. Golovkin is: 1. 33 years old 2. An aggressive fighter Aggressive fighters do not last as long at the top like a Ward, Mayweather, Hopkins etc. does. This presents another problem: 3. Golovkin is not going to be able to rise up weight classes like his defensive friends are. They don't perform so well against the bigger guys. There are exceptions like Langford, Armstrong and Pacquiao, but we know the general rule. Golovkin only weighs 170lbs on fight night as things stand. 4. His opponents are not sufficient. At 160lbs, there's no one of note. Canelo is nothing special, at 168lbs there's only James DeGale and Andre Dirrell. The only very good prospect in middleweight alone is Sergey Derevyanchenko. Ward would hand him a loss in a 118-110 or 117-111 fight, at 168lbs. 5. He'd be greater than Mayweather in my book if he cleaned up 175lbs, beating Kovalev, Beterbiev and Ward.
Nah. Not enough time, not enough quality at or around his weight, and he didn't make enough hay when he was young to pass him. He could easily go down as an ATG though.
His mexican style could not hold up for that long, guys this not dancing this real boxing. Besides he doesnt have drawing power to get other top guys in the ring with him.
No, he can't. No real shame in that though. He doesn't have the potential names and he won't move up in weight enough times to do something spectacular. He'd need to make the move to SMW in the next 12 months and then move up to LHW for the Ward, Kovalev and Stevenson fights to truly cement his legacy. Even then, I'm not sure if that would be enough - it would depend upon the manner of any wins. Not all three of those guys will be quite as glamorous by the time he got round to it. Also don't think he'd win against them either.
Here's a roadmap to top 20 guaranteed ATG status; Canelo Abraham DeGale Ward Stevenson Kovalev He'd probably need to split that across 10-12 fights or so. Not sure he has that left in him at his age.
He can, but like London said, it's an uphill battle. He's already 33, only fought in 1 division, and hasn't unified. He'd have to have some amazing fights in the coming years. But it's possible, he's just short on time.
Not no but hell no. He's already 34 and has a **** resume. He will probably be at the level he is for maybe 2 more years if that.
Beating some world class fighters, moving up beating some more. Continuing to be truly dominant. It's not that hard to imagine.
