IMHO: Stylistically, Frazier is total poison for Gene. I really don't think that fight would even be close. Gene could have some moments against George, but George catches him at some point and then it's lights out for Gene.

He might put up a good fight but I'd expect them both to beat him.

Tunney has the skillset to beat both men, and not really work up a sweat, I think he stops frazier and gets a dominant decision over Foreman.

Tunney has almost no heavyweight resume of which to speak. A rain-soaked ten rounder against a faded, inactive champ and a lucky count against the same, even older, champ who proved definitively that he no longer had a gas tank.

    That's it.

You want to tell me that he beats the guy with the single greatest victory in the division's history? Or the most dominating physical force to bestride a heavyweight ring?

    Cool story, bro.

The only people who think a 6'0 170 to 180 pound fighter period could beat George Foreman are these 60 year old senile guys who still think Rocky Marciano could compete with Modern heavyweights.

Gene Tunney is so bad skill wise compared to modern fighters that he couldn't even beat any half way decent 170-180 pound modern guys.

Both Frazier and Foreman would beat Tunney in the way of first round slaughter.

This is astronomically bad take , what skills does Tunney lack, if anything those two heavies are worse on film than Tunney is.

While I agree that Tunney had skills, he was far, far less dynamic than Frazier or Foreman.

This isn't gymnastics or figure skating. One is not judged on adherence to form. Especially in the heavyweight division, the degree of the dynamic - speed, power, strength, chin in combination- is what delivers. Tunney simply fails in this regard, as least as proven in his actual ring career. Perhaps if he chose to fight all-comers or had a longer stay in the big boy division, we would now more.

bruh this is word salad when you analyze all 3 fighters it is those overrated 70s heavies that lack the skillset to beat tunney, Tunney was a lot more versatile than those two, against Carpienter and Gibbons he counters against dempsey and heeney he leads etc. He wore you down as the fight went on , Frazier and Foreman are not putting Tunney away early. He stops Frazier and possibly George too.

For starters, Gibbons and Carpentier weren't heavyweights and neither possessed a heavyweight resume that was worth a flying sh+t. And both, when Tunney faced them, were in their final, or near final, fights of long careers.

Again, Tunney has almost zero resume as a heavyweight.

Sure is a huge leap of Faith being shown by some, based on very little evidence.
