Rigo was definitely smaller but that played no role in how that fight unfolded. Rigo and Loma are finesse boxers who use their skill and Ring IQ to win, not their weight to bully their opponents and wear them down.

Mariagga is actually a bigger man than Loma although he did move up to 130 to fight him. Mariagga is taller and has a reach advantage over Loma and Loma had only been at 130 for 8 months before they fought.

I think the fact that Loma completely dominated every minute of every round in his 3 fights in 2017 stood out. Not only that, but he made top level boxers and world champions straight up quit....which in Boxing is something no boxer wants to be associated with. Most boxers would rather die in the ring than to quit....at the very least, go out on their shield or allow the ref to save them from further punishment.

These men all decided to pack it in and quit instead of going another round against Loma. Those kinds of things made the world of Boxing take notice and elevated Loma’s status to p4p #1 and fighter of the year for a lot of Fans, boxers, trainers and journalists.

Loma doesn’t have competition at 126, 130 or 135. Not that there aren’t elite level boxers at these weights....they just don’t have the ability, skills or talents to match Loma. For Loma to really be tested he will have to give up 15-30 lbs and fight guys with a really deep skill set. Garcia comes to mind....but guys like Easter and Linares aren’t big enough. To beat Loma someone will have to be able to rough him up and mitigate his footwork so their offense can land.

For years those "too pale" guys you mentioned wanted to see Mayweather challenged in the most improbable ways and now I'm personally lying that same bull on Lomachencko. If he is great and all move up to 147 and fight Spence and Crawford. I'm under the same delusional those people were under.

Your numbers about 11 years to get 32 fights are skewed by the fact Crawford fought 20 fights as a virtual unknown. Unlike Loma he did not have a promoter and he did not get to start at the top. Since he has signed with Arum he has accomplished all of the accomplishments above and that was in less than 6 years. Unlike Loma he had to fight just to get the opportunity to actually fight for a World Championship. This is not to demean anything Loma has accomplished but to better put Crawford's accomplishments in perspective.

Bud is lineal champion in two divisions. Lineal champion too! As fast as Loma rose in your opinion he lost before those guys did also. You guys fall back on the first 11 fights thing then cry foul when we mention the Salido loss.

 

It was between Crawford and Lomachenko.

Crawford unified against Indongo which is a great feat but unfortunately Indongo was relatively unknown having never fought outside Africa until 8 months before the Crawford fight. Loma beat a smaller fighter who was nonetheless a well known p4p rated opponent.

Diaz, Mariaga and Sosa were all stay busy fights with little meaning to it as were. Of the three I would say Sosa has the more impressive resume. Both Crawford and Loma were extremely dominant in 2017 and I would say the edge goes to Loma for being more active and for beating a more high profile opponent in Rigo despite the size advantage.

I think it's crazy that Arum is promoting the top 2 p4p fighters in the sport in 2018. This guy never stops from Oscar to Floyd to Pac and now these two. And of course many others.

To the idiots who say guys like Floyd and Spence should fight GGG. You should have no problem for Loma who you all claim is a phenom to move up and fight either Pacquiao or Crawford. It’s mostly a way for people to hype up fighters. Loma and you idiot new trend fans know the truth. That’s good enough for me. There’s a reason why Manny wants Loma and not Crawford. Crawford would even make Manny more money than Loma and has a bigger following. One guy actually does want to fight everybody. Sorry but when it comes to Loma and GGG. These guys are just a brand being pushed equal to how female leads are being pushed in every action movie now. It’s nothing but agenda and trend and it’s not even driving sales to go up in boxing.

Critically overrated movie by the media. If you already break down what G and Loma have done, it’s not great by a long shot. These are just matchmaking won before guys even step in the ring. I’ll never buy bs and I have a right to my opinion.

If Rigo is a creditable win for Lomachenko, you should have no set backs for a supposed great to take risk and move up and fight another great. But just like those female leads, you all know these guys are bs. My two cents.
