If he keeps fighting top guys and having performances like he has he will get more popular.

Boxing biz in America is in rough shape, plain and simple. Networks just don't want to spend like they used to.

When you slash $70-80 mil from your boxing budget, this is what you get.

 

So, about half of the live viewers Froch had, and people wondering what happened with US boxing....the likes of Crawford and Ward happened, guys unwilling to give back the public their money worth. Good riddance, I hope this guy will never be broadcasted again, let him fight in some indian casino with gaylordmaster and Pimp C as only tickets buyers

This is someone else's faultimate really.....hbo has basically no budget ....this is why lara/ggg can't get made.....hbo can't afford it ...showtime can and ggg can't fight there

I dunno who's fault this is....prob hbo execs pulling back boxing money....but this Crawford fight had no right being on ppv in the first place and everyone here knew and said that

I'm sure ggg getting 2 mil for bums like do wade and Andre ward forcing hbo to pay him 2 mil for brand aren't helping

you are too dumb to understand the different points...from a personal perspective yeah its great for ward....could u blame him? he missed out on 2 years of paydays sitting out in his dispute....he got hbo to fund this fight, its a fight theyd never fund in a million years, because he made them in order to get ward/kova done

on the other hand...them dumping 2 mil on that card leaves them with 2 mil less...to put on a fight like crawford/postol...that crawford fight should have been on hbo......which is why i think its unfair for people to criticize crawford...i like crawford but you dont see me in his threads talking about him like hes the next greatest thing...i like him...but this criticism is unfair...a few years ago we wouldnt be talking about crawfords "ppv" numbers cause he wouldnt have been on it...hes a victim of circumstance....and he really had no choice as everyone would have called him a ducker and a pansy had he not fought postol

hbo is having a rough go of it...and them dumping 2 mil on ward/brand and ggg/wade isnt helping...i know theyre looking ahead and hoping those fights lead to greater things and is part of an invesment...but it still makes things difficult for others

you guys dont think for a second that HBO, itself, isnt partly responsible for holding up canelo/ggg?

canelo is one of the few guys left in the sport capable of selling ppvs...and successful ppvs help hbo greatly...as they dont eat into their budget....they are trying to put this fight off just as much as golden boy.....

 

i brought up ward and ggg...and hbo..and crawford...as they are all connected....you are really the dumbest **** here....you bring nothing...you yap without thinking and say the dumbest things...you arent capable of critical thinking....

again...these ward/brand ggg/wade fights push a fight like this to ppv that shouldnt be

You have a point here, but the problem is HBO need to pay their 'stars' to have them on their books. If they didn't have them, yeah they'd save some money, but then they'd have less subscribers etc. Unless someone at HBO has grossly miscalculated, which tbf wouldn't be a great surprise, the cost of having Ward & GGG is balanced out.
