Create a strategy for Holmes to beat

Did you see the two mentioned fights or not?

 

What "non lousy" fighters would you say Holmes beat? Coetzee and Snipes are certainly up with most all of them. Snipes dropped him hard actually. Snipes and Witherspoon basically fought a draw right before Holmes fought Tim so he's not on a level above. Cooney's below. We're really only left with an aging Ken Norton as the pinnacle. Admittedly Holmes had a great record and eeked of consistency as opposed to Page, but he beat similar lousy guys. Berbick too is on a par. None of them stand out from one another excepting Norton, a titanic struggle.

 

Page was indeed a lazy bum but on his best night he's a handful for anyone. He also had a more powerful right hand than Holmes which certainly gives him one better aspect in the game and something that can certainly hurt Holmes. It's harder and faster than the Snipes right hand that had Holmes on ***** street, so it's pretty silly to say Page had nothing to hurt Holmes. As far as beating the **** out of him, Witherspoon and Snipes sure had their moments not to mention others later. This was Holmes on the downside. It wasn't heart Page lacked, it was motivation and dedication. His heart is on display against Coetzee, easily mopping up punches that had the likes of Snipes and Spinks flat. Even later vs Ruddock he took many serious missiles before succumbing.

 

Long story. He's one of those lost talents of which there are many. I believe that if he had the dedication and professionalism of Larry he would have reigned between the tail of Holmes to Tyson and even had a good scrap there. IMO he was the most talented of his era excepting Holmes, an era filled with underachievement and patheticism. Page, Dokes, Witherspoon, all had the chance to strive for big things and none of them came thru. Any of the 3 might have taken the time by the scruff depending on the other two. Thomas dedicated a little more and had a nice little run.
