Mijares was unreal tonight. His defensive work was some of the most impressive and entertaining I've seen in a while and nearly shutting out Munoz seemed efforless for him. Very few fighters out there would last 12 rounds with Mijares at this point. He's improving after every fight too, so when he hits his absolute prime it will be a site to see.

There is absolutely no way a fighter like Donaire even lasts 10 rounds with Mijares. Montiel is the second best fighter in the division and he most likely would get taken out by Mijares in about 10 rounds.

Some judges just can't appreciate that style of fighting. Expect Mijares to drop a decision or two when he meets a reasonably competent agressive fighter with the majority of the crowd support.

How the hell could one judge give the fight to Munoz? It's the second time after the Navarro situation... :think

Be real. Mijares is good but taking out opponents is not one of them. He simply does not KO opponents because he is featherfisted.

He isn't a power puncher by any stretch, but calling him feather-fisted is a bit sketchy. He lands sharp counters you don't see coming, and did a number on Arce, Navarro, and Munoz's faces with his feather fists. Mijares also tires his opponent out by making them miss repeatedly, at which point the punch resistance of his opponents goes downhill. So there is a decent chance he can take his opponent out. That said, I don't think he'd beat Donaire or Montiel in that manner, though I do think he'd win a clear decision against either.

Montiel might survive to lose on the cards. Donaire gets countered into unconsciousness by the 7th.

He was landing the kitchen sink, the whole house on "defend with your face" Arce yet was Arce near KO? Against a B+ opponent, Mijares power is nowhere that good. Even when there were so much punch thrown already, Munoz was still pretty strong. The difference with a volume puncher like mijares instead of a KO boxer is that their opponents would be marked (face) but he is just featherfisted.

Their faces are always torn up by the end of the fight, he lands sharp, stinging blows, stuns them, but doesn't have top KO power of course. Featherfists do little damage, he does tons of damage and sparked Kawashima.

He could have stopped Munoz, had he gone all out in the 11th, for example.

Arce, Munoz, Navarro etc. are all guys with grea chins, as is Montiel. Donaire however is suspect, I could see him getting stopped.

    Round 8, 2:40.

Munoz VERY nearly stopped with a hook that resembled anything but a feather. More like a mortar shell.

Had that blow connected earlier in the round, it would have led to Mijares KO8 Munoz. Not TKO either. Clean.
