That's an interesting observation, and one I mostly agree with. Roldan's upper body was ridiculous for his weight class, and he looked to possess huge brute strength. Castro was very top heavy as well, though not to that extent. Then there's Marcos Maidana, who has a relatively ordinary bodytype but similar clubbing power. Think it might be a comvination of body type and training techniques.
Galindez was built like a brick outhouse and so didn't look like the polished type, but I recall him as being a fairly decent boxer. I wouldn't call him crude. At least off memory.
Tony DeMarco impressed me as a wide-open slugger. A pretty crude take two to land one and to hell with defense type. Fullmer certainly comes to mind and often fought crudely, but in his own way had some unorthodox boxing skills which surfaced now and then. Graziano is pretty close to the crudest guy who actually became champion. I know the Brits will get mad at me, but Freddie Mills often looks pretty crude for a champion.
Why do so many Argentinian fighters make the list? Are the physical and stylistic similarities coincidental?
Marco Huck - crude and predictable, yet still managed to have success at the very top of the game thanks to his freakish power and raw animal aggression. Sakio Bika - horrible style but that very awkwardness coupled with his iron chin and big heart never made him an easy night's work for anyone. Sam Soliman - weird gangly style that somehow worked. Absolutely amateurish looking at times. Ricardo Mayorga - the ultimate fighting caveman. Completely unorthodox style, macho posturing that left his chin out to dry, crazy angles of attack that fighters couldn't see coming or even expect. Marcos Maidana - same as above, minus the posturing. Vic Darchinyan - not crude so much as very unorthodox. Very hard to see his punches coming. Steve Collins - looked like a typical crude swinging brawler yet managed to get wins over Benn and Eubank.
