There was a video on youtube I saw a few months ago of Pawel Wierzbicki beating Daniel Dubois in the amateurs, but I can't find it now, looks like Frank Warren has had it taken down
So, Pawel Wierzbicki's best achievements in the amateur ranks were the Polish super heavyweight championship and the silver medal in the World Junior Championships.
@houmzz What do you think of those two Kharitonov fights I posted? Moreover, what do you think about Kharitonovs earlier amateur career when he was actually in shape(30-40 lbs lighter), not injury ridden etc. I scored the Hrgovic fight a draw and thought he beat the hell out of Helenius, only to be disgracefully robbed.
He outclassed Hrgovic and beat up Helenius.Good amateur career but a bit short.Like you said, he needed to commit himself to boxing more.
In pro ranks, Kharitonov would go far but a lack of stamina would fail him at the highest level. He didn't think about defence when he was up close against the likes of Hrgovic and Helenius, someone like Joshua or Ortiz would exploit that and would knock him out. I think he could win a belt if he would avoid Ortiz, Wladimir and Joshua.
So, looks like Sauerland will promote almost every fight of World Boxing Super Series, good for them.
Unfortunate but expected... Grant is a common tune up opponent for contenders and fringe contenders these days.
Oddly enough he used to be much slimmer, faster and had good defense. After the injuries started to mount up in Pride he started to come forward with the high guard and look to push guys to the ropes/or cage and tee off. If you look at some of his earlier MMA fights you'll be able to see what I'm talking about. Haven't been able to find his earlier amatuer matches unfortunately. There used to be a couple more of his WSOB matches of YT, but I can't find them anymore. Kharitonov is 36 now with a lot of miles on the clock, if he turned pro at maybe 25-30 with a good trainer, promoter and team he might have been able to go places.
