Carlos Takam has replaced Kubrat Pulev as the IBF mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on October 28, live on Sky Sports Box Office. Frenchman Takam is rated at number three with the governing body and has been on the hunt for a showdown with the British star, and gets his golden chance at ripping away Joshua’s titles in the Welsh capital after Pulev picked up a shoulder injury in sparring. “I received a call from Kalle Sauerland late afternoon today to inform me that Pulev had injured his shoulder and maybe ruled out of the fight – this was later confirmed by his doctor,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “IBF rules state that the mandatory will go to the next fighter in line which is Carlos Takam. “When the Pulev fight was announced I made a deal with Takam’s team to begin camp and be on standby for this fight. When I called them this evening they were overjoyed and good to go. It’s a difficult position for AJ having prepared meticulously for the style and height of Pulev, he now faces a completely different style and challenge in Takam – this hasn’t happened in his career before but he is ready for all comers on October 28.” Joshua’s clash with Takam is part of a huge night of action in Cardiff where the 2012 London Olympic Gold medal man’s bitter foe Dillian Whyte aims to take a giant step to his first World title shot by facing Robert Helenius for the WBC Silver strap. Kal Yafai defends his WBA Wold Super-Flyweight title against Japanese mandatory challenger Sho Ishida and Irish sensation Katie Taylor challenges for her first World title as she takes on two-weight World champion Anahi Esther Sanchez for the WBA Lightweight crown. There’s a mouth-watering British and Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight battle between Frank Buglioni, Lenroy Thomas and Dave Allen rematch for the Commonwealth Heavyweight title and Team GB Olympian and Welsh talent Joe Cordina appears in his fifth pro outing. http://www.matchroomboxing.com/news/pulev-out-takam-in-for-joshua-clash/
He isn't even good but at least he is bringing big time boxing back to France. But Demerizen would knock him the spark out just like he did in the amateur ranks, so I hope to see another fight between them in the pro ranks.
Rumours in Bulgarian media : Once Pulev is back he will face in the spring either Hammer or Miller to regain his place as a contender. Pulevs team won't wait for Joshua to suggest them a fight again. I think Hammer will go in a different direction , he won't attack IBF , so probably Pulev vs Miller. It would be pretty interesting and if Miller puts a good performance in his fight against Wach I will start rating him higher and even I would say he has a huge chance against Pulev.
The power that Murat showed in sparring against Dominic Brizil, Charles Martin, Gerald Washington and Chris Arreola, it's real, "Sanchez quotes Yahoo. - He was able to dominate and shake his punches these guys. When we rise to the heavyweight category, build muscle and stabilize its weight around 225-230 pounds (102-104 kg), it will be very effective. " "I believe that there are good times in heavyweight," Sanchez continued. - Some guys like Wilder and Joshua are much bigger than Murat, but then I remember Holyfield. Murat's height is 194 cm, but he is taller than Holyfield (189 cm), which gradually turned into a worthy heavyweight champion. Speed, aggression and striking power were the trump cards of Holyfield, and the big guys had more than just battles with him. I think, in the case of Murat, the situation is similar. I think Murat will be a boxer for exactly that kind of plan when he raises himself to heavyweight. "
Everybody keeps talking about Yoka/Joyce fight in the pro ranks but I don't think it will happen because Yoka will be knocked out before that. The only way it happens is if Yoka pads up his record and then faces Joyce. But even then it will be for a minor title because they will never have a chance to make this fight for a full title, the division is too competitive. Yoka can't just face nobodies and then fight for the title, he doesn't have a team and mindset like Martin to do that.
