What's up with Whyte's weight? He isn't ineterested in boxing or what? He have dificulties to get under 240 pounds. Whyte says he will beat Povetkin but his weights issues is saying otherwise. Povetkin isn't no Browne. And for that matter Whyte won't have sucess against prospects coming up with his weight issues. Why it's so hard to get in shape for seasoned pro like Whyte?
Sam Peter has a fight scheduled in Mexico this week. Possible warm up for a bigger name opponent maybe?
Good performance by Romanov but my God Carman is awful. He made Lucas Browne look like Pernell Whitaker in there. I know he can bang but still how on Earth did Kean lose to him?
A month or two back Franklin was was scheduled to fight Booker - but then that first date got canceled. Booker was also in the picture to fight Junior Fa at one point but Fa's camp was reporting that Booker wanted too much money. Booker was jailed shortly after that fight with Toney (which was 2004? 2005?). He's 37 years-old now and a bit out of shape. He's had a couple tune-up fights in 2018 in which he looked OK - but not great. So, basically, he's there as a résumé builder - a guy with a good looking record who isn't a serious threat. There aren't all that many of those fighters out there - so he probably figures he's got good leverage in negotiations. Nick Kisner moving up to HW? That's pretty surprising. He's a decent defensive fighter but he was already undersized at CW. The fight against Wallin won't end well for him, but I'm sure it pays better than any fight he's going to get at CW (where he's already hit his ceiling). He has a good-looking Win/Loss record - so he'll probably do the Michael Marrone thing now and rent out his chin.
