I can understand looking at this for an ATG ranking, but how are any of those losses even a little relevant to a current P4P ranking? Wlad hasn't lost in 7 years now.
Peter was NOT consensus #2 when Vitali beat him. He was ranked #4 by Ring at the time, behind Wlad, Iggy and Chagaev. Solis and Gomez were both basically default #10s when Vitali beat them, although neither had done anything to actually deserve that spot. I don't remember Duckpin being in the top 10, but he might have been. Fair enough. It's still a pretty damn far cry from Wlad's recent resume. When Vitali beats Adamek, he'll jump a little.
P4P list 1.Manny Pacquiao - 51-3-2, 38KOs 2. Sergio Martinez 46-2-2, 25KOs 3.Juan M. atsch Peter was No.2 in the world. His only loss was a close decision to Wlad. He was on a very good streak of wins after that: Toney (X2) Ring No.4 McCline Maskaev Ring No.3 before losing to Vitali. After Vitali dominated him he was ranked bellow Chagaev and Ibragimov. Nice try.
Yeah sure. P4P ranking are about recent (lets say a year or two) performances. I wrote about the losses, because you said that Vitali doesnt have as good name on his resume as Chagaev or Ibragimov through entire career. So I responded that Vitali has better losses in his entire career. I know it doesnt have the impact on P4P, this is rather career resume.
1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Nonito Donaire 3. Sergio Martinez 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Wladimir Klitschko 6. Vitali Klitschko 7. Yurkioris Gamboa 8. Andre Ward 9. Giovanni Segura 10. Juan Manuel Marquez 11. Amir Khan 12. Robert Guerrero 13. Chris John 14. Carl Froch 15. Miguel Cotto Floyd's not included because he hasn't fought in 12 months.
You shouldn't take his word as gospel... Chaegev's resume: Valuev (MD) (38 year old Larry Donald beat Valuev) Vyrchis (MD) (Juan Carlos Gomez outclassed Vyrchys) Ruiz (SD) Ibragimov's resume: Briggs Ray Austin (Draw) ancient Holyfield (Larry Donald outclassed a younger and better version of Holyfield) They get bonus points for their good amateur careers but when you look at their resumes there isn't much there...
And who's better? Sam Peter (who lost to Wlad, then barely beat shot fat James Toney twice, then barely beat fringe contender Jameel McCline and knocked out glass jaw Oleg Maskaev)? Kirk Johnson (who lost to John Ruiz and beat Larry Donald, Maskaev and Lou Savarese)? Corrie Sanders (who knocked out Wlad but has little else of consequence on his resume)? Those are the three #2s Vitali has faced in his career. At a bare minimum, David Haye is the best win between the two of them, and it still will be even if Vitali beats Adamek. Honestly, the best FIGHT between the two was Vitali vs. Lewis, where he held his own against a somewhat faded great, but he doesn't have much in his resume by way of wins.
1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Sergio Martinez 3. Juan Manuel Marquez 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Wladimir Klitschko 6. Nonito Donaire 7. Andre Ward 8. Carl Froch 9. Yuriorkis Gamboa 10. Miguel Cotto 11. Chris John 12. Timothy Bradley 13. Robert Guerrero 14. Lucien Bute 15. Amir Khan Obviously Mayweather goes back in high if he beats Ortiz. But he's not fought yet so he is still inactive for me. Also, all between 5 and 9 are fairly interchangeable for me.
