The very same one...... As you will know.....his amateur career was very brief and he is being built slowly as expected....just as they do with the experienced Am's that turn Pro. Your opinion differs to mine.....fair dooz......i could argue he was fighting his first telly show etc (presumed) and i get the impression with Gary he needs to be tested rather than being lined up with the afore mentioned overweight fighters. Its like he plays with them, perhaps he feels there style/strength early and i dunno as i aint asked........but i wonder if he is just told to go the rounds. Any fighter with a punch regardless of quality had a good chance of taking Dallas out the other night.....and i didnt like seeing it. As mentioned, was he almost forced to fight ? Was he ill ? Anyways.
Agreed man but this is the boys life...its like Holyfield in a way if ya get me. He just loves it....how can you stop the guy........well the boards can. Did you see his fight a cpl weeks ago, forgot the guys name but Deakin put him down and i swear i nearly sparked ma downlighters !!! Then got stopped.....i was gutted for the boy.
Deakin fought a lad i used to box with called Craig Whyatt he did ok was a dirty bout by sounds lad got cut by Deakin's head. TBH Deakin overcome odds he had issues with legs as a kid, I really think fighters who lose so many in a row should be severely looked at.
Did he do the world title fight ringwalk when ya seen him live BB ? Agreed.......its surprising they dont......especially when theres a shed load of euro's they can surely pick from. Anyways, wish him well.
Boxing!!! Other than a journeyman. He didnt look in the slight bit interested so he needs to have another think about what he wants out of it.
One thing you have to question was the need to rush him into turning pro, there were good fights for him to have in the amateurs. Ross Henderson the current scottish champ isn't top class, a very winnable fight and if Gary had beaten him could have picked up loads of experience boxing for Scotland and looking towards the commonwealth games in 2014 when he would still only be 26 and much more experienced and ready to make an assault on the pro ranks. I have seen all of his professional fights except 1 in Aberdeen and i have not seen any real improvement in his boxing. He seems a nice lad and i hope he does prove to be a good quality kid that can mix it with at least the best in britain.
Yeah i heard all the Ross talk and people was saying he would win handily (Cornish)......others said he avoided Ross on a few ocassions (thought it was yaself) though i canna remember what he said but i guess he got the offer and took it....and he's getting paid. Many now are seeing a big gap in the Pro and Amateur styles so perhaps its gonna benefit him to turn Pro earlier and i do take on board he would of got a fair bit of experience regarding the Scottish setup of course. End of the day.....he will be brought on slowly and all things will be ironed out....and i rather see him have some mediocre fights in the Pro's than continue in the Am's regarding the learning curve. Theres been plenty solid experienced amateurs that have had the same start in the Pro ranks, no ? As you pointed out......he is young........and he will improve....i have no doubts there. Location aint helping perhaps but theres a lot in the pipeline........already sparring Chisora and Sexton etc has done him the world of good.....given his performance and yeah its only sparring i know. There was talk of him being down in January for a move with Price before being on his bill but it didnt work out.......unsure why but he was up for it. Anyways :good
It's as though he doesn't want to bother if it isn't going to be easy for him. It's ****ing boxing, Tom!
Feel really sorry for Tom Dallas, he has always sounded like a nice kid in interviews, i think he needs to have a rest and a few easy fights if he ever wants to get back into it,
he needs to give it up,he obviously dident want to be there at all,he looked terrible,i really felt for him,he looked completely dejected in his corner halfway through the fight. seems like a great lad as well, the kind of man i like to see do well in the ring
I've noticed that too. He didn't seem to be interested in defending himself against Skelton. I was cringing thinking he was going to topple backwards over the ropes, just imagine his weight falling onto his neck.
Bit strange with Dallas, he didn't put a foot wrong before the Zack Page fight and looked like a promising prospect with monstrous power (albeit against limited opposition) he even seemed to more than hold his own in his spars with David Price (videos are online) I felt sorry for the guy to be honest on Saturday, his weatherbeaten face always makes him look upset haha, plus even though he was losing that stoppage was rubbish, referee should have broken them and allowed Dallas to regain his composure, holding someone over the ropes and clubbing them like that shouldn't have been allowed.
I think he was hoping the ref would step in and wave it off. He was making no effort to defend himself.
