If he was a boxer he would just fight a few tuneup fights against bums and there would be no questions asked.
Doesn't mean **** to them. He's got a unique "look," and he's one of the few well-established UK fighters (even if his record really isn't all that impressive). They care more about pandering to the British market than being fair to the other guys on the roster.
that is exactly why mma is becoming more and more of a ****ing sick joke it isnt really a sport is a hybrid of boxing, WWE, kickboxing and gay porn
I'm Dan's biggest fan but I definitely believe it's time to hand him his walking papers. He's not evolving, he's got no takedown defense, no ground game, has been knocked out and submitted in his 4 fight loss streak and his striking is horrific for a guy who is apparently "elite" in that department. He's a marketable fighter and he's had some tough fights, but if he can't get past these guys then he's always going to be a journeyman and to be honest, I don't even think he could hang like Leben or someone.
Boxing is littered with journeyman. There are more journeymen going around than contenders by a long way. I think there's room for a colourful journeyman like Hardy in the UFC though. At least until he loses a couple more times anyway.
Exactly. It's not like he's fought cupcakes. GSP, Rumble, Condit and Lytle? How many guys would win any of those fights? He can still beat a ton of guys in the UFC and though he's not really a title contender he hasn't shown to be a bad fighter. If they put him in there with some newcomers or lesser guys and he loses then yeah, get rid of him, but I suspect he'd beat most of those guys, or at least enough to hang around.
He has the triple glory.. he looks good, he's very articulate and he fights in an exciting style. I'm hard pushed to think of many others ticking all 3 boxes.
Put him in against Matt Serra. They are both coming off losses to Lytle, and they both need a fight. Loser goes home.
