**** fight with no relevance. If Roy drops to 205 to campaign then yes. If Hendo wants to really campaign at HW then yes. However it looks like an interim fight for both. Nelson needs to drop down a level and beat up Christian Moorecraft or someone like that. Hendo needs a relevant fight at 185 or 205 depending onw hat he wants to do.
Big Country is a lengthy stretch at the fatfarm away from light heavy. We might not even recognize him.
It should be a catchweight at 220. Nelson could lose weight without the fear of fighting a bigger opponent and it would be a great fight
I see your point , but i dont see Dana / Silva / UFC giving Henderson a HW fight This has been an element of Dan's problem in the UFC , he will not be allowed to pick and choose his opponents and he aired open views of being pissed off when he had to fight Palhares , and left not long after , now he doesnt think enyone at 205 is worthy ??? , well i can reel off 3 right now , momentum and form not withstanding , because its somewhat irrelevant If he does however , Roy Nelson ticks every single box for potential opponents
The only guy I could think of that is free is Stephen Bonnar. Other than that a rematch with Shogun? Personally though I think he had the right idea. Take the time off and wait to see what happens in April.
Hendo is at an age where it doesn't serve him well to be going through the rigours of training/fighting for nothing. Wait and if Rashad wins he could get that title, if Jones wins then he still probably gets that fight given that all the fighters around Hendos ranking have lost. Gustaffason has been put in a main event (albeit on Fuel) vs Lil Nog who is coming off of his own devastating win. I think Gustaffason is the next fighter in line for Jones after Evans and HEndo.
Yea the best option would probably be to wait for the winner of Rashad-Jones he has nothing to gain from another fight and he is at a age where he could lose his next fight and his title shot or get damaged in a fight
That would be a very exciting fight for sure... but I think a Hendo-Shogun rematch is no1 priority... for multiple reasons.
I doubt it'll happen. Dana seems dead-set on giving Hendo a title shot next, and he must know a rematch with Shogun would be a huge threat to that. I actually think Shogun would beat Hendo if they fought again.
Let Hendo and Shogun fight again after Hendo loses to Jones and after Shogun recovers from his knee surgery.
