Froch retired because he made a boat load of cash from those two fights with Groves. My point is there are many fights that don't happen, and they all aren't like Froch, and they all can't be blamed on Al Haymon. Obviously, since Haymon puts many of his fights on free TV the revenue to the fighters will be less than PPV. That means many fights won't happen simply because the risk/reward ratio isn't what some Promoters/Managers/fighters expect. That's not Haymon's fault. He has to be true to the business plan.
Steve Kim said "One thing I learned from the Ward-Goossen situation it that Ward simply isn't all that honest. Sound harsh, but it's the truth." He's making it seem like there was no offer. But Ward's team did make an offer, Loeffler simply tunred it down.
The offer may not have been fair Triple G's team view, but the offer was there and they turned it down.
Quillin would have his career high 1.4 mil payday against Korobov, but Haymon prevented that fight from happenning, because he didn't want Jay Z to promote it.
First of all, it wasn't realistic one, as Golovkin will likely be busy in 2016 unifying belts. Second: it wasn't fair, as if Golovkin succeeds in beating Lemieux and Cotto/Canelo winner, it will raise him to a super-star level, so Ward would only be able to get 20-30% of a purse.
A "fair offer" is done in "good faith" if the offer isn't done in "good faith" then one could assume it wasn't a legitmate offer. I could offer to buy Apple for 3c, a chocolate button and a toe nail clipping. It's hardly an offer made in good faith but it would still be an offer. Likewise Ward could have offered 10%, Oakland, at 168 with Ward's family as judges. An offer is made but it's hardly one in good faith.
There is no guarantee Cotto(especially), or Canelo will fight Triple G. Andy Lee possibly, but he's not beating BJS unless he KO's him. A fight with Ward could've happened in 2016, but Loeffler simply didn't like the offer and in hopes he can get Triple G to fight one of those fighters I listed above. As in if it was fair, Loeffler should've negotiated with Ward's people for a better offer as in we fight Ward at 168, but Triple G needs to get 65% of the purse.
It was legitmate, Loeffler acknoledged it. He simple didn't believe that it was an offer or a fight he wanted for his fighter now. Loeffler would not even mention Ward if those were his terms, Ward and his people would look idiotic if they made an offer like that.
He acknowledged an offer, not that it was being made in good faith (in fact I think he suggested that it wasn't being made in good faith tying his fighter up for X amount of time etc)
Has nothing to do with good faith, he basically said thanks but no thanks, and maybe in 2017. Triple G is only scheduled to fight Lemieux. It's not a guarntee that Cotto, Canelo, BJS or Lee will fight him.
Haymon is just an advisor. That means he offers advice, and doesn't mean the fighter has to take it. From what I understand Quillin was paid a nice piece of change to compensate him for his loss and his career is progressing as planned. Sounds like a good management decision to me. Face reality. Fighters aren't always going to react to the ever changing wishy-washy whims of spectators.
Ever read his contracts? they do have to take it or he can blackball their careers. Incidentally, he's not just Quillin's advisor, he's his manager.
Just an adviser. Ha-ha-ha. Is that why his fighters thank him before God after their fights ? They are his slaves.
