I know he took alot of punishment in a matter of seconds but Dan is tough as nails and was not out from Vitors kick! I think that stoppage stunk. Vitor is a fukin animal though, looks juiced up now to me, his face had that puffier look from enhanced estrogen via testosterone. Alot of guys are looking big and shredded in there now, lots of steroids going around an GH I bet.
From the looks of it, he got caught with a nasty kick and seemed as if he wasn't doing ready do defend the remaining onslaught that Vitor was about to unload on him.
at the time of stoppage Dan actually has Vitor's leg all tied up, Hardly out. You gotta give people like Dan ****ing Henderson the benefit of the doubt.
Yea that is what I thought, but I will admit I'm not the most knowledgeable MMA fan. Jeremy stevens kick was also deadly. I was surprised to see how arrogant Jeremy was leading up to the fight. Waving to the camera several times on way to the ring, really showboating and playing to the camera. Worst i've seen in a while actually, kinda hoped to see him get KOd but will wait for next fight lol
Dude he went limp and stiffened up after the kick, just a reactionary thing to grab Vitors legs (like Fitch after Hendricks KOd him) but if you look at his eyes he was clearly done. Good stoppage.
you just contradicted yourself. he was limp but he still grabbed a leg? Fitch legitimately lost consciousness and woke up, dan never lost consciousness. he even threw his hands up like "wtf?" about 2 seconds after the stoppage while still on the floor where as fitch didn't even know he was hit. bad comparison.
theres a reason guys like big nog were never stopped in pride, ufc refs pretty much jump in as soon as a fighter is knocked down
It did seem a bit soon, he wasnt out but not far away and wasnt defending himself against the onslaught perhpas he would have done after 10/20 more seconds but then he could also have been completely sparked out. Always a tricky one to know what was the correct decision.
you got to take into account who the fighter is. if its Frank Mir getting uppercutted by Shane Carwin by all means stop the fight, but if it's Dan Henderson taking the shots, you got to give him a chance
You also have to take into account the recent boxing incident where Abdusalamov is still in a coma. The safety of the fighter always has to come first. At the very least Dan was only one maybe two shots away from being taken out and it didn't seem to me like he was going to be able to do anything to prevent that from happening, so whether it should have been stopped when it was, or after those two shots landed is a pointless argument in my book because they were going to land.
you can't just assume that to be a fact though. what about kongo barry? or hendo shogun round 3? both times if the fight was stopped no one would have ever complained but they weren't...and look how they turned out. I'm sure there are more examples but those 2 come to mind right away. Lets not forget we're talking about one of the best chins EVER, and even while falling to the head kick he was never unconscious. Hurt sure, but he was still there enough to look at the ref less than 2 seconds later and give him the "why stop it?" look while throwing his hands up. Dan had one more scramble to the feet left in him, he had vitors leg all tied up and from the position of the stoppage vitor probably couldnt generate enough power for a KO punch anyway. Its a moot point anyway, whats done is done but i was on sherdog and read mad people saying his eyes were closed and he was limp which is just bull****.
He wasn't just taking "shots". The guy was getting Donkey Konged by the fiercest finisher in the sport. He was on ***** street after that uppercut, took about 10-15 more punches, then miraculously got up....then ate a shin to his face and dropped again. Sorry dude, that fight is over. The 20th anniversary of the UFC is in 3 days. All anyone needs is a legend to die in the ring, and set the sport back to the roots :deal
