This is superb news, purely as an accident of physics MMA works far better at the lower weights. Because the striking does not carry so much force fighters can really throw without so much fear of being knocked out by any lucky punch.

    At last the Flyweights !!!!!!!!!

Excellent news , Dana is really looking to exterminate all competition man , Tachi Palace fights kiss your ass goodbye ...........

On the 5 round thing , im behind that , elite level fighters should be conditioned for 5 rounds every time out , its a good thing IMO , and were getting more value for money .

One thing that should come from this , is the strengthening of Strikeforce , world class Flyweights = fringe level contenders cut from the UFC in all weight classes , therefore the spill out should be grabbed with 2 hands by SF !!

No its not, with such a low-profile division the fighters are relatively unproven. Its not a UFC division where guys are being tested by a consistent level of competition. I mean its only a few months ago that Jussier da Silva was the unstoppable force in the division. Then you have the likes of Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson that would move down if the UFC established a flyweight division.

I don't think we are talking about the same thing here, Were you replying to my post?

I thought you were saying that you doubted we would get five rounders and flyweights so thats why I replied so harshly

Except that I had already discussed the changes in this thread and explained how they were being made. And I was responding directly to your point about a Japanese champion.

I would replace eblows with knees/upkicks on grounded opponents personally.

Think 5 rds is a great decision, it will force fighters to improve their fitness and we can get to see who really is the best.
