    Round 10

Ryder is carrying his arms low, crowding in by inches, then suddenly flinging his right arm up and in for a wonkadoodle hook. Jacobs can't time his rhythm and is visibly vexed, circling far away from him and snapping out a jab. Ryder smothers him and clatters leather all over Jacobs' arms and backside. Jacobs doesn't like this. Ryder scores a right jab and backs out, then twists to slip some Jacobs flurries. More heatseeker right jabs on the mouth by Ryder, swimming without getting wet as Atlas would say. Jacobs just doesn't know what to make of his awkwardness.

    10-9 Ryder

    95-95

    Round 11

Ryder is forcing a syncopated outside-inside rumble on Jacobs. Hook scores for Jacobs but he takes a two-piece from Ryder in the bargain. Ryder sliding in past the Jacobs left jab and bodying up against him, sometimes lapping his tentacles over Jacobs' arms and sometimes surprising him with a tap on the body or uppercut planted on the bottom of the chin. Jacobs wants to get this back to a boxing match where he can work off the jab but Ryder able to avoid it on his way in with ducking & twisting, sometimes just flat out shoulder tacking his way into Jacobs and peeling off just enough to spray leather at him as Jacobs is stunned by the body contact.

    10-9 Ryder

    105-104 Ryder

Rosado has it 107-103 for DJ, giving him the last two consecutive rounds, which I definitely don't agree with. Those were almost carbon copies of Ryder's very good 8th and 9th work.

    Round 12

Ryder is caught with some jabs and 1-2s coming in. Ryder able to grab and rough up Jacobs a little on the inside, but without the success letting go and getting off shots that he was enjoying in the previous four rounds. Jacobs is now a southpaw, reaching in with the southpaw jab, ducking a retaliatory shot from Ryder, and then landing a left handed rabbit punch as Ryder ducks in. Ryder doing more clinching and blocking than punching in this frame. Ryder tries some body work but lands back around Jacobs' kidney area, nowhere legal.

    10-9 Jacobs, close

    114-114

    115-113 either way is fine.

Brit commentators thought Ryder gutted out round twelve. I thought he sputtered out there and didn't produce the same quality that he had going in rounds 8-11... if he did, he's the winner on my card.

But enough of these rounds were close that any cards for either man that aren't too wide can't be complained about.

    Official cards:

    Vendano 115-113 Jacobs
    Fitzgerald 115-113 Ryder
    Laine 115-113

SD for Ryder - yeah, that range of cards was perfect.

All's well that ends well - the loss prompted Jacobs to retire, which he probably ought to have been doing at this point anyway. The victory propelled Ryder to a stoppage of undefeated Zach Parker (man, Ryder was really in the running for Comeback of the Year in 2022, wasn't he? Nearly shot to hell and picked up his two career best victories in the same calendar year...) before losing the final 16-20ish rounds of his career against heavily favored Mexicans and then calling it a day himself.

Upset wins over Jacobs, Parker, Akkawy and got robbed by Smith and Ryder. The latter two who were both favorites at the time of the fight.

Ryder has a really good run and in the end made some good money.

    Round 1 Jacobs 10-9

Danny trying to get the jab on track, Ryder as well, Danny landed some nice straight rights, eye catching shots. But Ryder did the better work inside and clipped him with some sneaky counter right hooks. Kind of close.

Danny doing better work at range, but switched to southpaw, Ryder did the far better work inside, landed the shorter more impactful shots.
