atsch just no. Huck is the guy I could see green gunning for, he's not the most skilled and he can be outboxed. He's unique in the sense he's 100% *******. :rofl I'm sure we would all be in awe if we were 12 years old.....LOL! It will make a massive difference as danny is far from a natural cruiser and more a light heavy/supermiddle blown up. His advantage has been making people come down in weight not staying lighter, if he got heavier he'd be chubby or slowed by superficial muscle mass. He piggybacked off the fame of mundine culminating in a beating and then piggybacked off him again coming out of retirement. Don't get it twisted.
[I don't agree with Mandy and Danny in the way they have conducted themselves in the past with certain aspects of their media-whoring, but it's a fact, they know how to work with the media, be it with infamous statements or having a PR machine behind you pushing and making opportunities work for them, hence their financial success with some of their promotions] FACT...it was Jeff Fenech's hate of Mundine that created Greens profile, if it wasnt for Jeff does anyone really think the media would give a **** about some bogan from Perth training out of a back yard? i doubt it. The simple truth is that Green did ride Mundines white wash with Jeffs help!
quite true.Mundine and Fenech had the feud when Mundine said Jeff only ever beat Thai cab drivers and it started from there.too bad for Jeff he dumped Green for Tyson and missed the big payday from Mundine v Green.good to see you back Kagsy:good
I don't think it's being harsh Buster, just stating the obvious. Geale fights up to this point have been too infrequent, hence no one can consistently see him in action. Kats fights overseas, hence same issue as Geale in that the potential 'casual' observer can't cling to him and get consistent exposure to him. For mine, I think Geale has a great story to tell and the work behind the scenes he does with his amatuer club and the youngsters is first rate, yet 99.9% of the public wouldn't know about it. ****, they'd hardly be aware he was a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist. All I was trying to get at was the fact that other fighters in this country don't get exposure because fundamentally, their managers or promoters don't do enough to expose them to a potential wider audience. To blame Green and Mandy for that is just deflection of the own shortcomings.
You do make good points Kags and to a degree, I agree with you regarding the early Danny career, however I didn't see Jeff around when Danny brought RJJ here? Danny, we have to at least acknolwedge, stumped up the cash to make the RJJ opportunity happen and produced both in and out of the ring. That's when his career took a far greater step in terms of marketability and wider support.
The only thing i can acknolwedge Contendo is that fighting RJJ was like insider trading! Most people inside the boxing community knew RJJ was shot which was unknown to the general public which was shown with odds for the fight. Its was a win win situation and they knew it, they had plenty of dollars in the coffa's from dudding the public with dangerous challengers as Green put it... Dominguez Van Niekurk Griffen Garcia Crawford and continued after the RJJ fight Siaca Briggs Flores Also i think it was you contendo who stated that green is more known to the general public fair enough in aust yes but in the world of boxing i doubt it. Kats and Vic are far more well known in the international boxing circles than green, green is only known for the guy who beat a washed up RJJ. The Kronk!
with all due respect, all the experts and big name boxers were in agreeance that jones would more than likely embarrass green and make him look like a D level fighter. and that green wouldn't land a punch. green could only win by a very lucky punch. few tipped green to win.
So, Kronk, what is your actual point? I intially commented as Francis 75 had stated that it was a shame that Green and Mundine get all the media, yet people like Geale and Katsidis don't. All I did was state that Mundine and Green know how to make the media work for them in Australia - their main market. I agree Kat's and now your bringing into it Darchinyan are more well known and respected on the international stage - a point I never even brought up and one we weren't even discussing so your giving us your valuable Kronk assessment on something that has nothing to do with anything? If Danny exploited a situation against RJJ (I don't know if expolited as you call it is right, RJJ was happy to accept the big $), well bully for Danny and I say good luck to him. If the promotion had failed financially, that also would have been the luck of the draw, it's a decision Danny undertook and it worked for him, fair play. I have been highly critical on here regaridng Danny that since RJJ, his choice of opponent has been pathetic (Siaca / Briggs) or at best dubious (Flores) so I think I have been more than objective and balanced in my opinions.
Yes RJJ was passed his best but only a few months before he handed Lacy a beat down and schooling....I still rate that as a great win for Green and Aussie boxing :deal
I guess he wanted one also? who knows.. served a few weeks ago, didnt contest it and recieved the final order this week.
Dominguez while not good was for the vacant CW title. the CW title was the only title between MW and HW RJJ hadnt won.that and the 3mill was what lured RJJ over here.
