Good decision. This has been on the cards for a long long time. I can't remember a recent fight he hasn't been hurt in. His punch resistance has completely deserted him. It's unfortunate that was shown up against a bum that punched hard for about a round.

Well, I'm glad he has finally hung them up but I'm absolutely gutted about what I saw last night.

We all knew he had slipped somewhat after watching him against McDermott but to see him being bundled around like some drunk buy a guy who he would have walked through a few years ago was a sad sight.

I watched Williams - Long today and Danny was a totally different fighter back then. Yeah, he was inconsistent but so ****ing what? That was Danny and he was still able to have a great career. I once wrote an article about Danny for ESB (which was on the main page) and it was about the time he pulled out of his fight with Skelton in Bolton. I thought his time was up then and wanted to give my two cents so it's hard to believe he went on to feature in some good, bad and controversial fights.

I wish him all the best in his retirement and I can gladly say that was one of my favourite fighters.

    Thanks for the memories Danny.

Its quite sad he finished in a 3 round fight like that. Whilst his punch resistance has deteriated if that was a 4 round fight he'd have won. I think he was too focused on Harrrison. I still think he'd have too much for Chisora or Fury at this stage, then he could sign off properly.

Wish him all the best tho, hes been quality thru the years.

If you were building the perfect British heavyweight you'd take Danny's heart.

    Wishing him peace in retirement.
