WOW !!!!!...... over a HUNDRED LIES And MISCONCEPTIONS in one single post... You have revealed yourself as the vilest Les Darcy hater of all time...... I hope you meet him in the afterlife, he'll knock your f***n* head off. Worst crock of **** I have ever read about any boxer....... Do Harry Greb a favour dickhead, and shelve the project,..... you are more one-eyed than Harry ever was. I'm just glad you are the minority...... you can't fu*ki** Re-Write history to suit an agenda....... what a moron.
In all these years I have never heard of Smith on film....... your name ain't Smith by any chance ???..... or it's Gibbons or possibly Miske........ Your post above was more bile. You accusations are an affront to Australians in general, according to you we are dirt-bags,... gee thanks very much pal......... you are SUCH a classy poster,.... NOT.
Klompton is a knowledgeable guy on boxing history for sure, BUT, he is very pigheaded about everything he claims, discusses or questions(???). I would say that was fine and important if you were about to perform brain surgery and there were a few grey areas - you definately need to sort them out!!! but to condemn everybody that does not agree or know as much as you is much to insulting and arrogant. Not everybody has access to the material he might have, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY AGAIN, there are other guys on these boards that are knowledgable fans and researchers themselves! they too have done their home work and crossed referenced and dug up what they can, they ARE NOT WRONG, even IF some of the info they have access to might be. So Klompton you should realise these too are good people doing a good work, discuss with respect and learn from each other, it's boxing after all, not someone's life or death in your hands! I have complimented Klompton many times, and I want to read his work on Greb, whom I thing was "perhaps" the greatest middleweight of all, perhaps(?). but dear Klompton, the longer people wait and the more contradictory you become in your treatment of people, the less support you will get. your a smart guy - not a know it all - you will only be proven wrong. once again in support and best wishes to you man, sincerely!
He made Fulton quit after 2 rds, after knocking him down for a 7 count, and this is from some American who sparred at that gym, it is a first hand account.... the witness said that Darcy was so fast that Fred never landed a single punch. It's maybe not 100 % proof, but it's a report Mr Klumpo seems to have overlooked,... and I have not seen him provide any credible sources,.... I'm surprised he hasn't used McGoverns opinion of Darcy against Les (Terrible Terry never even laid eyes on Darcy in his life).
Yes, I would love to see that. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darcy knocked Fulton to the canvas as sure as Caesar conquered Gaul and as sure as Don Bradman is the greatest genius in sporting history, I'm surprised the KLUMP-STICK has'nt tried a jibe at THE DON..... gee, I wish he would.... just so I can laugh even harder at his ignorance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BTW I haven't been able to find fault with your facts,..... I think you are even better than I in Darcy facts,... evcept that Smith won the 1st rd in fight #1,.... at least Swanwick thought so. and maybe Smith had 3 out of 4 rounds, but that is neither here nor there when Darcy wobbled Smith and some observers thought that Smith was in serious trouble with the Child-beast all over him, and then whack !!!! .... the best blow to the nuts ever seen. Klomp-stock fails to mention that the crowd rioted because nearly everybody saw the low-blow and the dented cup was shown to many immediately afterwards. ------------------------------------ As for the second fight, it was Darcy all the way, many there said that Smith looked terrified of Darcy and even on entering the ring, Smith showed none of his normal cockiness or confidence, in fact he was the epitome of concern. If that fight had gone 5 rounds, Darcy may have ended Smith's career there and then.
Bull**** after bull**** after bull****.............. I am going to write a book about Klimptown, ------ I'll call it This content is protected
How about focusing your energies on addressing his assertions and telling us why you think they're wrong? It's much more productive Klompton is known on these boards as a guy who does his research meticulously and he does it using primary sources. So his credibility is far from lost here. Others have objected to the way he comes across too, but you will find few who consider him to not be a reliable researcher. If you think you have better info on Darcy than he does then you should challenge him by posting your research and sources on the thread.
Here is an eyewitness's account of Darcy beating Fulton up.......... His name is Mr. Bob Laga............... let's see you do a hatchet job on Laga's reputation, he was there, and this is said in 1922 just 5 years approximately later, that's an early date, why doesn't Fulron come out and refute this,..... it has been public for AT LEAST 89 years........ it seems to me that This content is protected
And a very short time after, Darcy told O' Sullivan to GTFO, thereafter O' Sullivan was part of McIntosh's camp, and part of the official smear campaign which this Aussie hater who has hijacked this thread, is still a part of. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darcy was great, and no weasel can change that fact with such a distortion of the truth..
Well that settles it for me, add the link I just posted and there are now 2 accounts to back up Dempsey (and what could Jack possibly have to gain ?),..... gee I wonder what our resident soothsayer has to say ????? (I am coming in late I know, but I'm going through in order, I know there may be some more outrageous anti-Darcyness ahead).
I think Darcy wipes the floor with Dillon, now Darcy was too humble to say it to a newspaperman, and if he did I would dismiss it as a fighters usual hype. But when Darcy was promised a fight with Dillon, Les thought the fight was certain and he wrote a letter back home to a friend, I have not got the text handy but Les said that "I can't wait to fight this Dillon, over here they think he's great, what a Bum !!!.... you should see the others that Mr. Rickard is throwing and you wouldn't believe the money"....... I don't have a photographic memory but that's the gist of it.......... the key words are Dillon and Bum............ This letter arrived long after that bout fell through and is obviously Darcy's true feelings about Dillon...... I am not calling Jack that, Darcy is, Dillon may have been great but Les was not at all impressed with Jack's chances against him.-------------------------------------- Has Klompton ever read a single Darcy letter ??
hey fellas, still love these debates. anyway, quick question: has anyone found any first hand reports of the darcy/fulton sparring session? I did a look at old police gazettes and the wife did some research to and found nothing. not to say it ain't out there obviously, just couldn't find it ourselves
I don't think a sparring session was a big enough event to be reported on the newspapers. The statements from eye witnesses seem to indicate that Darcy did get the better of Fulton in atleast one sparring match. I don't think there's any reason to suspect that those people were lying about what they saw, although it's difficult to say whether they were exaggerating Darcy's success. For all we know Fulton could have slipped and called off the session because a sparring partner was taking liberties on him or because he simply did not feel like going any more rounds. It's impressive enough that Darcy was sparring with an opponent who was a foot taller than him.
