but didn't fight the best fighter in his division, and it was a conscious choice.

They didn't face each other so what? He beat the brakes of Hill who was a top fighter in that division for YEARS.
Jones says it was DM. DM says it was Jones. Nobody from either camp is going to admit anything.
And while we are at it CANELO didn't face the best light heavy did he?

DM - stayed in germany, didn't get a fight with roy jones.
ottke (retired 'undefeated') - stayed in germany, didnt fight calzaghe or kessler.
sturm (4-5 times 'world champion')- stayed in germany, didn't fight bernard hopkins
    steiglitz....

do you see a pattern forming here?
serious question - on what planet can anyone who isn't emotionally invested in any of these guys not see with crystal clarity exactly who's fault it was that they didn't, and had no intention, of fighting the best fighters in their division?

get a belt, get a TV contract, get rich.

Let me break it down for you so you understand.
The point of pro boxing is to make money right?
You have a limited amount of time to do that.
Now if your DM and your making more then enough money (6 figures) why would you mess with that?
If your promoter can lure opponents to Germany because they have deep pockets(Hill,Barber etc)
that's good for YOU. You WANT all the advantages you can get.
Wanna know what did Hagler in against Leonard ?
Look up the negotiations leading up to the bout - Hagler pretty much gave into all of Rays demands - the ring, gloves etc.
Wanna know the funny thing? Roy Jones in his prime years NEVER left the USA to fight abroad. Does this mean Roy wasn't the best boxer?

How many fights have been been made by call outs? Many. You should know that. Often interviews have created a platform for one fighter to call out another. Surprised you even had to ask lol.

    Now back to the question...

So did Roy say he was wanting to travel to face the champ?
DM put adds in magazines calling Jones out. Recall seeing them. Show me where Jones was calling DM out

he cashed out for a fight against oscar. 1 single fight in the US.
he got fed to a bigger fish so that oscar had a belt to take to the hopkins fight. irony.

not call-outs, putting an ad in a magazine while fighting half a world away.
if i didn't want to get the attention of the best fighter on the planet, i'd fight half a world away too.

you don't travel away from the US to fight a belt-holder who nobody knows on the bigger stage, the fighter on the smaller stage fights on that bigger stage to make the fight. this is how the business of boxing works.

Cashed out?He was in the beggining of his career, case in point-17 years later he is still fighting.

He tested the waters, got robbed and evidently wanted no part in that again.

I will only say that ALL michalczewski fights but 2 (one in portugal and another one in poland) were in germany basically in the 90s.

Everybody and his mom knows what does it mean. EVERYBODY.

Steve Cunningham based himself in Germany for the big CW fights
The champ was in Germany, so your argument is flawed as Griffin, Hill, Gonzalez, Harmon to name just a few all left America to face Dariusz.

    Now once again
So did Roy say he was wanting to travel to face the champ?

Of course, Ward too and he does knows what this means.:D
Ohh, I forget Big Brothers from US are better Big Brothers.

For them another world is created, they are better, might fight in home country as tickets sellers and A side lads and then ALL is good.

Ohh, I more respect boxers who did not had signed to fight vs cash cows as away corner boxers.
Doesn't matters nor belts nor anything posted in internet.

    Some people does have balls.:nonono
For you to have their own opinion and not dance under opponent's demands does have right only US based boxers.

    WTF.

He even had won IBF title in europe. By decision.

If about Sturm, I never will pick him h2h to beat up DM.
They did not gave Sturm for GGG and I think GGG is too small for DM and Sturm too.
DM was natural LHW dude, I think even more physically strong than Kovalev and Bivol, not alone stronger than GGG or Sturm.

EVERYBODY knows what fighting your whole carreer in germany in the 90s early 2000 means. EVERY FREAKING BODY.

IN GERMANY. Not at home. I mean IN GERMANY. Everybody and his freaking mother too.

You dont want to or cant deal with it. Your problem.

EDIT: and note that I've not said anywhere what it means. And, nevertheless, you know it.
