I wouldn't say Barker is protected Slap. I don't want this to break into an arguement but the only decent fight for him at British level has been Macklin and that fight has fallen through severall times because of both fighters.

Spada is a decent fighter for Barker. Ranked WBC No.7. Only losses have come to Zbik and Oral and were supposedly dodgy.

    Purse bids are Feb 28th.

Wouldn't mind seeing Hayemaker and Hennesey do a deal for this for the May 21st 02 card. Barker is a known ticket seller in London and this would be a great addition to a PPV card.

Whilst not spectacular the frenchman was decent and I would not call Barker protected.

He's had some not so good fights but then show me a fighter that hasn't.

This is a good step up if it happens.

Spada is a very decent euro level fighter. Good pressure fighter, strong and accurate, Barker will have to put in a very good performance to win this. I had spada up by a few rounds vs zbik, but he was always going to need a ko in that fight. Ill pick barker on a very close decision

Just glad Macklin is taking a massive step up instead of fighting Barker.

As good as Winky was...he hasn't had a fight for 2 years. He hasn't won a fight for 4 years, and he never beat a top level Middleweight.

i would say more of a step up than a massive one, and if winky has anything left he will beat macklin comfortably and macklin will be happy to get back fighting for the euro title.

    Neither has Macklin.

I was at the Echo for his last fight and he was absolutely terrible against Varon, for a while looking like losing.

His lack of activity/meaningful fights IMO is starting to haunt him. I'm not going as far as to say he's on the slippery slope (as one ESB member has said before) but if I was a fan I'd be concerned.

His style of fighting plays into the hands of an old Wright. Macklin isn't a 100 punches per round merchant like Williams, and doesn't like being pressured.

Wright has the experience to take the play away from Macklin and dominate him, probably 8-2. That said, I applaud Macklin for taking this fight, instead of ****ing about fighting chumps for the European title.

As for this fight, I suppose it's a route back in for Barker but they really need to just stick him in. There's no point becoming a 10-time European champion by winning, vacating, winning, vacating over and over..... does him no good what so ever.

Lee mentioned he is willing to fight Barker or Macklin in the future. I think it will happen.
