Hopefully Barker does not box like a complete ****** in this fight like he did against Belgecham. He was in some kind of macho mode, I've no idea what he was thinking but it doesn't suit him. He's not got the natural toughness for it, and it nearly caught up with him.

He should just do what he does well in this fight. Keep the punching long and straight, thats how Zbik beat him and Barker has more talent than Zbik so he should be winning this type of fight using his boxing ability.

Belgecham hardly outboxed Barker. Barker induldged him by fighting like an idiot. He was fighting in close by choice even in the first rounds when he had legs. He never tried to box once, he was too caught up in trying to show he's a power puncher or something. Then he gassed because he'd thrown too much too early so he had to run Oscar De La Hoya against Trinidad style. There was no outboxing, Barker emptied his tank and nearly ****ed it up off his own back.

Thats bull**** in itself. Barker didn't try and box once. It's not like that guy was cutting the ring off and forcing the pace, he was plodding around like the average fighter he is. From the opening bell he never tried to use a ****ing jab which is his staple punch. He was trying to prove something and failed. I've never seen Barker stand right next to his opponent and trade body shots before but he threw hundreds of them in that fight and never tried to move. It was a terrible performance, poor tactics, against an average fighter. He was saying before that fight how people underrate his power but he made too much of an issue of trying to prove something.

Barker has more to give than that provided he's over his injury problems, but he's not world class and won't ever be, no doubt about that. Same goes for Macklin.

How do you come to that conclusion? Zbik is more talented imo and more proven than Barker.

funny thing about this Macklin-Lee-Barker Irish vs English rivalry thats been built up on here is that if they did actually fight eachother, whoever wins won't deserve credit from any of there own fans as they will have only beat and over hyped, over protected bum!!

although in all seriousness, i think that if they were meant to be world level fighters, they would all have established themselves in what is or shortly ago was, a pretty thin division already.

I think theres a difference between guys who are legit world class. Fighters like Haye, Tim Bradley, Mayweather ETC that were groomed to be world champs and always will have been no matter what.

Then theres figters like Barker, Lee, Macklin who could all win versions of world titles if managed correctly. Simular to Sylvester and Sturm.

Definitely more proven but I don't think he's more talented.

Barker has more talent than Zbik without doubt. In fact, so does Macklin. That's not me being biased either, Zbik defensively is horrific and has been outbattled by supposedly weaker fighters at his own game. He has benefited from a number of gift decisions

He is not, Belghecham is crap. Lee totally outboxed him except for the last 30 seconds of the fight. It was totally one sided and Lee got complacent and switched off at the end of the last round.

A lot of people on here thought that Belgacham either won the fight or derserved a draw against barker.

Belgacham is on the same level as Alessio Furlan in my opinion

agree...barker is a boxer not a brawler...although in barker's defence he was at very short notice to fight belgencham but still should have done a much more convincing job imo

While Belghecham is by no means amazing, that's just going too far.
Belghecham is an okay fighter, he's a very strong fighter at French level and he's reasonable at EU level. Beyond that he's found wanting a bit. Furlan on the other hand isn't even a good Italian level(which is weaker than French) fighter.

I feel whoever wins the purse bids for this fight, will have their fighter win the fight. Which imo will probably be Barker, by hard fought close decision.
