Yeah must be said Geale is a class act and took that like a true sportsman.

No controversy there. Even Geale accepted it with no questions.

I had barker by three iirc. He won his rounds clearer than geale won his. What a pair of gents it must be said. Geale will win a strap again no doubt

Liked but never really rated Barker, but after that performance he goes to the top of my favourites list!!Hope the lad can cash in now and make him and his family financially secure,he deserves it!

Nice 1 Barker, well deserved, showed true class, determination and good boxing skills...i thought he could have made it easier for himself by using the jab more but Geale showed hes truly a very tough guy.

i will say Barkers tactics where spot on. He really matched geale for workrate and gritty punch for punch resistance.

He surprised how he really took it to Geale i am sure geale was surprised how much Barker was the more aggresive and willing to stay in the dangerzone a little longer to get the final punch off before retreating.

Some rounds where close but if you look at the clean scoring punches Barker showed the more polished work. The knockdown was one of those Rocky moments that all young fighters should watch and learn how determination, will-power and sheer guts keeps you in the fight. How he got up from that i never know. the way he gritted his teeth and went out on his shield and finished the round wobbling Geale was just sheer fantastic champion performance.

    Barkers HIGH volume of punches:

    Final CompuBox stats:
    Power
    Geale 211 of 508, 42%
    Barker 244 of 582, 42%

    Total
    Geale 259 of 693, 37%
    Barker 292 of 862, 34%

Was just not predicted by any of us on here, i said in my prediction Barker doesn't have the workrate or punch volume to win against Geale so we can see what barker has been working on in training -high volume and workrate, took away Geales main asset -workrate. Geale i am sure was banking on his workrate but he just didn't get the opportunity to throw more punches as Barkers workrate stopped him in his tracks.

Yes Barker tired in the 12th round but the amount of work barker put in AND if ppl box will know bodyshots can REALLY sapp your energy even if they don't hurt intially in the round they catch up later.

I would like Barker to retire as i like to remember Barker with THAT performance it was close but i had it 2 rounds to barker.

I have never been so happy to be wrong in this case. Fantastic Dazzler. Was a really close fight and I felt HBO's commentary was extremely biased towards Barker. To get up from that liver shot and come back like he did was fantastic.
Let the British World title tournament commence

Behave now. Everything else you said was spot on, but he deserves to receive a lot of credit and hopefully some huge pay days.

why are people saying barker might retire, there's allot of money to be made and felix sturm is his mando, he can fiight the likes of sturm, murray, macklin and Lee and call it quits afterwards.

i know what your saying, but he has been through 2 HARD HARD fights.

But lets take a breath who can he beat currently IMO:

    Sturm definately i think
    Murrary - its 50/50
    Macklin - its 50/50
    Lee - beatable
    GGG - nope
Martinez - 70/30 to serigo martinez (i think he is on the decline)

A big big purse fight would be with chavez and i think he is beatable against a boxer type like barker.

    What do you guys think?

Nah, universally clear for Barker - although he was hurt a couple of times and it was close throughout.

it was a good fight & Barker just edged it for me. To get up from that body shot showed true determination. I thought he was finished but to come back showed real heart & guts. Both boxers were a credit to the sport.
just hope Barker beats his mandatory & then we should get a british middleweight tounament with a world title belt as the prize. That would be great for british boxing. Hope barker comes out on top over maklin & murray but all 3 are good sportmen & real competitors.
