Have to say, Dave Allen is not a boxer I have ever warmed too, and find his popularity bizzare if nothing else. However having listened to the recent pod, he actually comes a cross a lot more knowledgeable and likable than I have ever thought. He clearly loves his boxing, and quite pleased I actually listened to it, opposed to ignore it as he was one it.
I like him as a person, seems a sound lad but I'm kind of getting bored of the gimmick. He's had so many chances and refuses to get fit and train properly. Stick him and Price in with each other and the loser leaves town. These guys shouldn't be taking so many PPV slots.
What's good about him is that he has the potential to get more casual fans genuinely interested in domestic level fights. I really wish he'd step up his training though, his decision to carry on with his Doncaster based trainer was disappointing. He's only 26, and could be domestic/european level if he really tried. Not really sure why he doesn't. He also said recently that he thinks he's made less money from pro boxing than a person working a 9-5 would have made in the same time period. It's not a long career and you'd think it would have dawned on him to invest in his career and reach as high ceiling as he can and consequently made as much money as possible.
he said he's only going to box for 2 more years, then move onto MMA and WWE. Can never tell if he's serious but he's said it a couple of times now
Not a chance in hell could he be European level. People keep talking about fitness and dedication but the main thing he lacks is ABILITY
he's absolutely bullsh*tting about the earnings. hearn and co said hes now got property etc. he was funny 2 years ago. it's boring
I wonder how many people thought you meant Russia Today. I can't help but like Dave, however he should be named Dave "woe is me" Allen.
