Tasty fight. I've got Charnley by close but clear decision , something like 9-6 in rounds. Dave would make it rough - one of those bruising British fights where both look like being in a car crash afterwards.

During my time working at Smithfield in the very early 70s, Charnleys manager during his career one Arthur Boggis, who also managed British Champion Ron Barton, frequently purchased produce from the stool I worked in, and a more nastier, morose, ignorant man, you would be hard pressed to find, there was lots of talk about him amongst the ex fighters that worked alongside myself, all saying what an unpleasant man he was, and that money was his god, and felt Boggis putting him in with Griffith, was about the purse, and of course his percentage, than about any realistic chance of Charley winning, a view much of the boxing fraternity agreed with, by sheer coincidence a few stools away from mine was a ex boxer who had trained and spared with Charnley when he was on the rise, according to this chap, Dave was hard on the hired help, and showed little mercy, he said that he had spared with MWs that were not as strong as Charnley, and felt that in the future he would be world champion, his nature out of the ring was conversely quiet and unassuming, but once the session started he was all business, and no time for pleasantries, as to the fight, I would think Charnley would be too strong and determined, but I think the underrated Watt would put up stern resistance, and can for see a points win for the Dartford Destroyer. stay safe guys, chat soon, Mike.
