This is the most overhyped fight this year. Dillian Whyte whos best performance was getting TKO'd vs Dave Allen who best victory was against Jason Gavern in a boring points decision. This proves how the sky hype machine can brainwash people
Your judging him on his TV persona which seemed to wind up followers of Ricky Hatton (who falsely claimed that the Witter fight was written into his contract). Junior is very popular in the gym and has done great work coaching the kids.
You may well be right. I've only ever seen him in front of a camera. I just remember being about to go to secondary school and watching the build up to the Judah fight whilst thinking, that guy's a total ****head. Then there was all the silly Hatton baiting that went on afterwards. I've never been a Hatton fan but still think Witter made himself look a bit of a fool when that fight was being talked about. He came across jealous and desperate.
I very much doubt he would have. Why? Several reasons. He sold a large number of tickets each and every time he fought. This made him more finically comfortable than most boxers operating at that level. Witter later admitted that the main reason he took the fight was to earn a payday. I give him tremendous credit for stepping up but he's freely admitted it was to sort his finances more than anything else. A world title fight with Hatton involved was always going to be a much big event. As such it was always going to happen and Hatton would have known that. Why potentially set yourself back taking a risky fight on 9 days notice when you could earn far more a short while down the line in front of a huge crowd for much more money? Rightly or wrongly Hatton had a lot more doors open to him and so wouldn't have needed to take such a fight at that point in his career. Would Witter have taken it if he were in Hatton's shoes? Again I doubt it. Hatton took on Kosta who at the time most people didn't think he had a chance of upsetting. I don't think he'd have been 'afraid' of Judah.
A fight of this quality would be better suited to some desolate countryside lane whilst some traveller shouts "come on, shake hands, shake hands".
I hate how Sky are making Whyte seem like this top level heavyweight. He is ****ing garbage. Sure he will probably beat Allen but he is super ****ing Garbage. This fight is about as bad as it gets. More focus should be on Tyrone Nurse.
Comes across like an early Chisora. Beat nobody as a pro and living off the win in the ams against a novice AJ.
Whyte is a decent tough HW. There is a great comparison to Chisora. This will be a mismatch. He will knock Allens lights out inside 3 rounds.
Apparently Witter is in the corner as Dom Ingle is at training camp with Brook. Allen and Whyte looked very similar in size at the face-to-face. I think on fight-night Whyte will have a bigger pair of tits.
Haha :yep It's all relative though. When you look at the lack of quality at the top of the heavyweight tree, it stands to reason domestic level is going to be pretty shocking. I just hope Whyte's god awful technique is being improved.
