Interesting fight. I think Benavidez wins, no joke. Before you complain about the matchup, modern cruiserweights are basically heavyweights anyway. Roy Jones Jr. fought Ruiz at 193, by the way.

Would it shock me if DB won? Not entirely. Hes close to a seasoned vet of boxing at this point, in his prime. Moses, for all his talent and seeming fight iq, is still in early development stage.

But while I have my reservations about Moses's intangibles, he is certainly quite a physical talent with better then average skills (imo), and hes bigger then Zurdo, who if anything, had some very minor success in there based solely on that (size).

Im not sure it would go well for DB backing up to the ropes like he did, against someone with the physicality and size of Moses.

It would be an intriguing fight, I dont count DB out but I have to go Moses. Unless he turns out to really have a soft heart, or chin, or both (quite possible. Something seems off about him, imo) I do consider him quite a force for someone considerably smaller to deal with.

But if he does have some heart/chin issues, a gritty, cagey, tough pit bull style fighter is what can/will unravel him. And DB is that.

I'm not sold on Itauma being some future ATG heavyweight yet. I have reservations about his durability and stamina. Like Kirk said, something seems "off" and I can't put my finger on it. And we've yet to see him have to figure things out and make technical adjustments.

That said, he's unusually athletically gifted for the division, hits very hard, and has nice timing and handspeed. And he's just a much bigger man. He'd finish this quickly IMO.

i think david beats him. too experienced against real world class talent at top level. itauma lacks the experience, and he has nothing david wouldnt have an answer for. he could always get lucky and get a lucky shot in there that hurts david bad, but odds are he gets outboxed and beat up.

Worse than when Canelo was on his run and they were saying let him go fight Usyk at Heavyweight.

I find Moses Itauma to be overrated. That’s why I posed the question. This isn’t comparable to Canelo (a small super middleweight) vs Usyk (a heavyweight). Benavidez is basically a heavyweight already. Anyone above 190 has historically been considered a heavyweight. 200 pounders are just too scared to face the better competition at heavyweight.

This is getting silly now. Moses, despite his lack of experience against world class opposition, would brutally spark him out. He's way bigger at 240-250lb with the speed of a much smaller man, the power of a 240-250lb big punching HW, and he's very athletic, explosive, has very good skills, punch variety, high ring IQ, and good timing. Zurdo wouldn't make it out of round 1 vs Moses. It's hardly a knock on Benavidez as Moses is way bigger than him and hits way too hard for him.

Let's all laugh hysterically at the man who claims he's a boxing sage and says he doesn't let his fanboy bias get in the way of logic, reason and common sense.

And I say that as someone who thinks Itauma is an absolute fraud and hypejob.

I think Benavidez wins just based on experience.

Yeah no, Benavidez doesn't last 3 rounds. I always said he'd annihilate Zurdo, that outcome was obvious Zurdo had his hands full with Joe Smith jr

Zurdo had 4 fights at CW heading into tonight's fight

An extremely inactive Goulamirian who had only fought once in 4 years and 3 months and not at all in going on a year and a half

vs CBS who whilst I'm a fan of him and he is very tough he's a huge overachiever, isn't elite, and Zurdo was a bad style match up for him

An extremely inactive 39 y/o Dorticos who hadn't fought anyone with a pulse in 5 years, had fought 3 times during those 5 years, all 1 or 2 round blowouts of bums 2 of whom who were blown up 160 and 168 pounders and I felt that well past prime inactive Dorticus deserved a draw vs Zurdo

    And Joe Smith Jr.

Benavidez beating Zurdo in the manner he did was highly impressive and we have to consider him a legit threat to Jai now but Zurdo looked slow, ponderous, and IIRC has hasn't even scored a KD at CW, let alone a stoppage win.

The difference in power, explosiveness, athleticism, natural size between Zurdo and Moses is vast and Moses is faster than him too if not much faster

Again, this isn't a knock on Benavidez he's excellent.

It's like Loma at 135 those guys weren't just much naturally bigger than him the biggest ones just looked like a different species to him by the time they climbed into the ring and it wasn't even really a fair fight. It would be even worse with Benavidez vs Moses.

Even though there would probably be about a 30lb weight advantage for Moses depending on how heavy he came in, in terms of natural size, strength and power it would feel like more and it just would not be a fair fight because Benavidez's body is not designed to be hit as hard as that

Haney is about the same size as Super Boots and his fight vs Loma was a grotesque size mismatch. Yes Loma won the fight in most people's opinion due to his other worldly skills being able to overcome that huge size disadvantage but I'm under no illusions that if Loma had fought the much harder punching Super Boots instead of Haney he would've been violently KO'd early because Super Boots is just way too big, powerful, fast, and explosive. It would be the same with Moses vs Benavidez
