Yes once...with Canelo fighting in December after the vaccines were created. Canelo purses is so much that he needs a crowd (gate) when he fights. David fought in August because he doesn't need a crowd.

The business cares...boxing is a business, none of these guys are fighting for free because they love the sport

I already explained it to you, he was not interested in fighting him at that time.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

When Canelo made up his mind to go for undisputed, David lost his belt for being undisciplined but I've already explained it to you.

    But it is.

No, he just opted not to fight him because he wasn't interested in DB belt at the time...he was campaigning at other weight classes but I've explained this to you already.

He wasn’t interested in the belt because Benavidez had it. Not so sure why it’s hard to see that. It’s very obvious. Benavidez poses a huge stylistic matchup problem for Canelo. Tall, with range and throws tons of punches with power. Fielding didn’t have that, Saunders didn’t have that and Plant didn’t have that. None of those guys had those attributes to trouble him. They may have had one or the other but not all combined. If Canelo was as confident as you, he would have fought Benavides when they both won titles at the end of 2019. Covid is no excuse as they both fought in the later half of 2020. BuT iTs A bUsiNeSs. Again, nobody cares about that unless it’s convenient for them to justify why a fighter is avoided. Everything in life is a business. Big deal. Benavidez is not easy money for anyone and Canelo knows it. Canelo didn’t care about unifying til after Benavidez wasn’t champ anymore.

    Just like Callum Smith

    I agree

    I agree

No need. He was fighting at 175.

COVID is a excuse...the vaccines weren't approve by the FDA until 11/2020...Saul fought in December. Anyone fighting before 11/2020 is risking their life and for what...to make a fan called "Maidanas Gun Tattoo" happy?

Easy for you to say...you're not the one getting punched in the face for a living.

And if Benavidez would have kept his nose clean & kept his weight on point, he would have been fighting Alvarez at the end of 2020.

Nose issue was in 2018. And the weight was for a fight with someone else. Try and make sense because you are not understanding that not making weight for opponent A has nothing to do with anyone else. Canelo chose not to fight Benavidez period. It had nothing to do with coke or weight no matter how much you don’t understand that. Canelo simply didn’t want to fight him.

Correct. Because Benavidez has no belt. Saul is fighting for legacy...fighting Benavidez with nothing at stake does nothing for him.

During COVID, yes...but the entire world was shutdown.

When the vaccine was approved & started being redistributed in November, Benavidez was beltless. The 168 tourney started in December.

This guy is a legit 168 pounder and would be a much better competitor than ancient GGG. If Canelo decides to fight anyone not named Bivol in his next fight, I hope it’s Benevitez at 168. I think Canelo has some advantages, he’s prime, wins all close decisions and some they are not close and he’s a better boxer. He has disadvantage as well, worse gas tank, size, power, etc.

As a boxing fan, it’s a more exciting fight. Not because I want to see either guy win or lose, it’s close to 50-50 in my opinion. Canelo wins and his legacy is enhanced by beating a true prime young talented top fighter, if he Benevitez wins, his status is elevated a lot. I want to see GGG Canelo or Bivol rematch but will settle for this one.

If not, I’d like to see Charlo step up and fight him. Benevidez makes things interesting at 168.

Yes, with fighters who don't care about their health (catching COVID) or needed the money.

Canelo isn't desperate like Benavidez...he doesn't need the money. He waited for the vaccines to be approved.

There are more important things in this world than boxing.

All of a sudden, a guy who fights for a living is worried about his health. What happened to boxers put their lives on the line every time they enter the ring? It’s ok to say Canelo avoided Benavidez. Many fighters avoid tough challenges when a particular fighter poses a stylistic matchup problem.

COVID isn't just the boxer protecting themselves...it's about the boxers protecting their loved one, their kids. They can spread the disease to someone they love especially their children who weren't vaccinated at the time.

Just because they risk their lives in the ring doesn't mean they want to risk their love ones from something that has nothing to do with their given profession.
