I remember before Small signed with Warren, him and Haye appeared to be good mates. I was reminded when watching ringside last week and they showed Haye winning the European belt, Small jumps in the the Ring and picks haye up. They were both trained by Adam Booth. I wonder if they still see each other or if Haye has distanced himself since Small started all his Radical islam carry on.
Adam Booth was Smalls trainer but Small left him and ever since then I think him and Haye never spoke much.
Yeh Booth was Smalls trainer. I imagine once he left Booth the friendship stopped. Booth would have done a good job with Small as he was athletically gifted. Hopefully Small comes to his senses one day and turned his life around whether he comes back to boxing or not.
I was at the S.E London divisional finals in 2004 when Small got absolutely robbed agaisnt Sam Webb. He came out of the ring crying that night and although he had attracted derision when he entered the ring wearing the "Scream" mask, he left with many admirers and fans... Then, when he turned Pro he was, in my opinion, badly advised and persisted with those silly gimmicks and ridiculous nickname. Worse of all, unfortunately for him in a televised fight, a referee had to step in and demand that he show more respect to his opponent. When you think about what guys like Prince Nassem Hamed got up to without serious reprimand in the ring, it goes to show how out of order he was. He is a decent boxer. Nowhere near World title level, but certainly someone who can hold and make several defences of the British. However, and I hate to be so judgmental, he is prone to listen to bad advice because he isn't the sharpest tool in the box from what I hear. (Hence the reason he joined a group depised by most Muslims in this country). If he does come back, and I always think everyone deserves a change of redeeming their previous mistakes, then it must be with a tough trainer and with a much more humble approach.
Yes. Maybe not as quickly, but only a year or 18 months later. He was a good boxer and they're always given chances 9 times out of 10...
you think?? He wouldn't even get given fights. He sold no tickets, had a style thats terrible for TV and would make a prospect or champion look **** even if they beat him. Smalls mouth was the only reason to put him on a show and TV. Without it his only chance would have been getting a call up at late notice to fight someone, probably at Middleweight or higher with the odds stacked agasint him.
How many televised fights had Ajose Olugesun had before he got the British title shot? He's got a similar amount of fans and I swear his first tv outing was for a title :huh
Smalls style isnt all that bad, when he puts his punches together, like he did against Hall, he looks absolute class, the barrage and combinations in that 8th round are up there with the best I've seen domestically.
I always thought Small was underrated as a fighter cause he is that much of a proper tool & everyone hates him. He was never going to fight for world titles but isn't a bad British level fighter, but at the end of the day he is still a proper **** and i was made up when Webb beat him
good right uppercut and head movement. and he always seemed to be improving, takaloo, hall and curiel are not very easy matches buit he bossed it. had high hopes after the hall fight....then mcdonagh which was unbelievably bad
