It will be interesting to see. I think Haye is woefully underrated and think he can really spice up the division. I think Rahman-Haye makes the most sense as a win for either fighter would be a big statement. Mike Mollo and to a lesser degree, Chris Byrd would make sense too. Though I'd hate to see Byrd take yet another ass whipping by a non-American. Poor boy still won't be able to hang up his gloves.
it will be known jouneyman fighter. nothing better than that IMO. holyfields first fighter at heavy when he stepped up after beating qawi was quick tillis and i expect a similar type opponent.
Dimitrenko or Virchis, both in the top 10 or WBA and WBC. Haye will 100% be in both top 10s one the belts are relinquished! He should have 3 fights in England then go to the States and get on some undercards!
Gomez wont fight Haye coz he's too high up in the WBC rankings. Likely opponents, I'm thinking along the lines of decent top 50 journeyman heavyweight. Sinan Samil Sam, Dominick Guinn, Jeremy Bates, Jason Estrada, Monte Barrett, Owen Beck or Ceric Boswell. Fight two or three of these guys then step it up in class, against like Calvin Brock, Tony Thompson, Hasim Rahman, Jameel McCline, Ray Austin. If he can win 3-4 fights of that sort of calibre within the next 18 months he's gonna be ready for a title shot. He's got talent, class, heart, insane power, handpseed, mobilty and a good boxing brain. His weaknesses are his defence, and possibly his chin. Although to be fair I would say that his defense is more of a problem, leaving his chin exposed. Anyone with an exposed chin at Heavyweight will get hurt, these guys can punch. On the upside though, the current heavyweight division doesn't have many guys with great handspeed who will be able to exploit that, at least not compared to cruiser. So as long as he has those reflexes and good movement he should manage ok. I can see him winning a title, but I can also see him getting knocked out. He will almost certainly win something, but I can imagine him getting KO'd once or twice before he does. Either way he'll be a top challenger with the power to hurt anyone in the division for at least the next 5 years, and I'm looking forward to the Haye era bigtime.
Why should Haye have to wait ? As " the man " at Cruiser ( full respect to Enzo but Haye beat the man etc. ) he should really be due a straight shot ( if McCline gets 4(?) tries then that seems fair ) but I doubt he will I really feel with David having put behind him his weight making woes of the past he will be a killer at HW. I would pick him to knock lardy boy Peter right out of his boots tomorrow !
