I dont disagree with you, he does have serious power and speed, the speed will decrease when he jumps up 25-30 more pounds, that's just a fact. I do think the Heavyweight division is very weak, but you do got big hitters still like Peter and Wlad, who have already felt guys more powerful than Haye, and certainly laid out guys with better chins than Haye. I see Haye getting past alot of good Heavyweights, but he will falter against the fighters with good chins and Heavy hands, someone like Peter would be a nightmare for Haye IMO, but time will tell how good Haye turns out to be.
indeed, im just a bit irritated with posters giving him 0 chance and slagging him off when the guy has done nothing but take challenges s whole career. Maybe more fighters would have tasted the canvas with the kind of risks he's taken
I hear you, I just think some people are getting a little annoyed by the nuhugging level hitting new heights after Haye knocked out Mac, you seem like a reasonable poster, though others arent. I hope Haye does well, we sure could use more exciting Heavyweights, especially a guy that has great personality and who seems to want to take on all comers. :good
Yeah no doubt, he's a favorite of mine because he likes taking shortcuts and stepping up. Fingers crossed
I don´t think that ppl wants to bash on Haye because he stands zero chance to be a force in the HW division. I think most boxing fans are used to fighters beeing hyped before they have actually proved themselves, it happens all the time. Haye might do really good, or he might not....we don´t know, do we ?? Before he has beaten a top 10 HW in impressionable fashion, it´s pretty silly to say that he would do this or that to Klitschko, Peter, Chagaev or Ibragimov. Take it easy, and let him show us that he can back his promo talk up. For now he´s not even a contender.
It's a bit different though, he's already a champ in the weight below and you could argue has the right to a title fight straight away(happens a lot if the names big enough) at 217 vs a durable bonin he looked very fast and the tough as teak pole couldnt take his jab. All bodes rather well. It was a useful experiment to see his power and speed with the extra poundage at his natural weight. So please allow me to get excited, i'm not basing my opinions on anything other than what i've seen.
You have all right in the world to be thrilled...I don´t blame you. I´m not saying that Haye shouldn´t be allowed to fight for the title straight away either...bring it on !!! What I´m saying is that until he has actually beaten a top ten HW in an impressive way...all talk of him knocking Klitschko & Peter the **** out is hopes and dreams...based on desire of heart only. :good
He won't be weight drained which won't sap his strength as much. Can he handle HW punches even with a stronger chin? Who knows. Lets see what happens.
I have an idea, let's ask Chris Byrd what it felt like when he got hit by Klitschko. I'm pretty sure it would be the same outcome.
Well see that'd be applicable if I was saying Haye would beat Wlad now would it? God forbid people get excited about the idea of THE division in boxing getting some sort of spark to it.
Even if his chin could be better with added weight the HW's on average hit harder than crusiers so it may be a wash..... but it doesn't matter ....as Ali said you can't hit what you can't see.... and if you hit like Tyson then hit them before they hit you..... So maybe Haye will be remembered as a Tyson/Ali combo:bbb run like Hays hit like Mays.....:yep Bullet Bob and Willie
Thats not get too carried away here, Haye doesnt have half the chin Ali or Tyson had, his defense sucks, and he looks to be a counter punchers dream, if he misses with his so called "Haye Maker", he is wide ass open, and his chin is far from strong, so he will be visiting the canvas often in his Heavyweight career. I do however believe his hands are fast and powerful, which will get him a few good victories, but when he meets a guy like Peter, who has already felt his power and packs a big punch himself, Haye could be in for one hell of a wake up call IMO.
The heavyweight who will make Haye pay for leaving himself "wide ass open" would be Wlad Klitschko. He simply jabs from distance, avoids easily Hayes vaunted right hand and when Haye gets brave and reckless and charges in with his big right Wlad sidesteps and counters. Iggy was hard for Wlad to fight because of his patience and difficult style, fast hands and underated power. The macho Haye will get frustrated and he will charge Wlad. Early K.O. for the Ukrainian. Your man Peter, however is much more likely to be outboxed by the slightly taller and much speedier Haye. That fight could go either way. Stylistically Haye is perfect for Wlad. Haye's D is average at best and his chin will never handle the power of Wlad's punches. If Wlad could land consistently on the defensive genius Chris Byrd he will easily land on Haye and dispatch him early and brutally.
